Round 2- Back by Popular Demand

Cus D'Amato's KO Boxing Gym will be holding its second Open Gym Beginners Event of 2026 on May 2nd from 11am-1pm for ALL AGES. Children under 10 years of age must be with a participating adult.

Please bring plenty to drink.
The class will start promptly at 11am PLEASE arrive no later than 10:45am to prepare. Please bring boxing hand wraps to the event or you can purchase hand wraps for $15.00 at the event. You must be wearing hand wraps to hit the heavy bags.

Come ready to learn new skills, get a good workout and see how boxers all start the sweet science. Coach/Trainers Todd Smith, Ed DuPont, George Young, Carlos Santos and Darren Ruff with a combined over 250 years of boxing experience will lead the event. This is a FREE class!

'Maybe a boy has the stomach for fighting but he's scared when he cIimbs those stairs. He's scared when he gets into the ring too — nobody can get into a ring the first time with another man across from him and not be scared. The boy knows he is scared, but he thinks the other fighter is not afraid and so he beIieves the other fighter is made of different fIesh. l teII these boys aII that. l teII them that fear is usefuI — fear gives a deer extra strength to escape a hunter. But the fighter must not run. He must Iearn to controI his emotions and he must go forward — attack. He must be a soIdier and obey his manager's orders no matter how dangerous they are. l'II teII you where a fighter gets tired — in his head, in his brain. The thing that makes him tired is fear. A fighter is aIways tired when he has been hit hard; he cannot admit to himseIf that he is afraid and so he teIIs himseIf he is tired. But if he begins hitting the other feIIow he gets a resurgence of strength. He is not tired any more. So he must know himseIf, control himseIf.'
