First-inning rally sparks win for the Red Sox, 8-1

The Red Sox defeated the Cataula Pirates 8-1 on Saturday at Pate #1 after pouring on five runs in the first inning.

Max Eikelberry was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

Four relief pitchers made sure the win didn't fall through the cracks for the Red Sox. Hunter Cullefer faced four batters in relief, while Maxwell managed to record three outs to aid the victory. Matt Moore started the game going an inning and 2/3 striking out 5 batters and yielding no runs. The five pitchers combined to give up 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 15 batters.

The Red Sox built upon their lead with two runs in the fourth. A sacrifice fly scored Bryson Scarbrough to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Hunter's single, scoring Maxwell.

Bryson went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Stephen Smith was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Mark Berndt was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

The Red Sox improved to 15-3 and completed the regular season with an 8 game winning streak as they head into the playoffs.

The Red Sox best the Mountain Hill Athletics in shootout, 14-13

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between the Red Sox and the Mountain Hill Athletics, as the two teams put up 27 runs combined in a 14-12 the Red Sox win.

There were 23 hits, including four extra base hits in the game. Max Eikelberry racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Red Sox. He singled in the second inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and homered in the fifth inning.

Stephen Smith started on the mound for the Red Sox and went 4 innings, giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 6. Stephen left with a 10-5 lead, but the Athletics’ bats did not quit as they put up 8 runs in the last two innings.

Matt Moore went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, Ethan Griffin went 2 for 2 with 2 walks and Nick Morgan went 3 for 3 with an RBI.

The game ended on a relay throw from Matt Moore to Austin Watson to Nick Morgan who put the tag down for the final out of the game.

The Red Sox improved to 14-3, after winning their 7th in a row and secured the top seed in the Harris County playoffs.

All-around effort leads the Red Sox past the Hamilton Hornets 3-0

Ethan Griffin carried the Red Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Hamilton Hornets on Tuesday at Moultrie #1 with a strong game at the plate and on the hill.

Ethan went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Red Sox. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Ethan baffled the Hamilton Hornets, striking out six batters. The Red Sox's pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.

The Red Sox stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on a passed ball and a groundout by Matt Moore.

Nick Morgan picked up the save with a scoreless 6th inning.

The Red Sox picked up their 6th straight win and improved to 13-3 on the season.

The Red Sox best the Mountain Hill Rockies in shootout, 17-10

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between the Red Sox and the Mountain Hill Rockies, as the two teams put up 28 runs combined in a 17-10 the Red Sox win.

The teams combined for 33 hits, including 11 extra base hits.
Fifteen runs in the opening three innings allowed the Red Sox to easily put away the Mountain Hill Rockies. A two-run double by Max Eikelberry, an RBI single by Cole Mathis, an RBI single by Austin Watson, a walk by Nick Morgan, a home run by Matt Moore, an RBI single by Hunter Cullefer, and a passed ball during the first inning and an RBI single by Matt and a passed ball in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Red Sox.

In the top of the first, the Mountain Hill Rockies grabbed the early lead, 2-0. The Mountain Hill Rockies attack began with a single from John M. A stolen base then moved John M from first to second. Chad C singled, scoring John M. More runs came home for the Mountain Hill Rockies when C scored on an RBI single by Dalton W.

Four runs in the top of the second helped the Mountain Hill Rockies close their deficit to 13-7. A two-run double by Preston H, an RBI single by John M, an error, and an RBI double by Dalton set off the Mountain Hill Rockies rally. Finally, Bryson S got Lucas M to to end the threat.

The Red Sox survived the Mountain Hill Rockies' surge and put up two runs of their own in the fifth. The Red Sox scored on a two-run single by Hunter.

Matt Moore was 4 for 4 with 5 RBI’s including a grand slam, his 2nd Home Run of the year. Max was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and Cole Mathis was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Bryson Scarbrough picked up his 2nd win of the season. Nick Morgan closed the game going 3 innings and striking out 5.

The Red Sox won their 4th straight and improved to 11-3.

Hello everyone! It's Heather Smith, coach Steve's wife. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all who have donated their "previously loved" baseball gloves. So far we have gathered up 13! These gloves are going to be shipped out to bless needy children at a school in India.
There is still a little time left to collect more. Would you please help me spread the word? Let's collect as many as we can this week! All gloves will be turned in on Sunday, April 28th.

Thank you for your giving hearts, together we can make a difference in children's lives across the world!

The Red Sox offense too much for the Cataula Pirates in 21-2 rout

The Red Sox shut the door early on the Cataula Pirates, capturing a 21-2 victory on Saturday at Pate #1.

Twenty-one runs in the first three innings allowed the Red Sox to put the game away early. An RBI single by Matt Moore and a passed ball in the first inning, an RBI single by Nick Morgan, a groundout by Matt, a passed ball, an RBI single by Hunter Cullefer, a two-run single by Bryson Scarbrough, and an RBI single by Mark Berndt during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Red Sox.

Max Eikelberry racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Red Sox.
In the top of the first, the Cataula Pirates grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Jackson S kicked things off for the Cataula Pirates with a double. A groundout by Wyatt R then moved Jackson from second to third. Austin C singled, bringing home Jackson.

The Red Sox answered the Cataula Pirates' top inning with two runs of their own in the first. The Red Sox piled on 10 more runs in the bottom of the third. Maxwell started the inning with a triple, scoring Matt. That was followed up by Bryson's single, bringing home Maxwell.

Nick Morgan went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, Max Eikelberry went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s including his 3rd Home run. Bryson Scarbrough went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and Mark Berndt went 1 for 1 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.

Hunter Cullefer went 4 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 5 to pick up his 1st win of the season. The Red Sox improved to 10-3.

Offenses dominate as the Red Sox outscore the Mountain Hill Athletics 14-8

Scoreboard operators were busy at Pate #1 on Tuesday as the Red Sox and the Mountain Hill Athletics combined for 22 runs. Red Sox eventually won the offensive battle 14-8 in six innings.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 17 hits, including four extra base hits.

Eleven runs in the opening three innings allowed the Red Sox to easily put away the Mountain Hill Athletics. An RBI single by Matt Moore, a walk by Stephen Smith, walk by Cole Mathis, and a two-run single by Bryson Scarbrough during the first inning and an RBI double by Max Eikelberry in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Red Sox.

Matt was solid at the plate for the Red Sox. Matt went 3-5, drove in one and scored four runs.
The Red Sox got a three-run rallies in the third inning and the fifth. In the third, the Red Sox scored on an error.

The Red Sox built upon their lead with three runs in the fifth. A hit into a fielder's choice scored Matt for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Cole's triple, bringing home Mark Berndt.

Bryson Scarbrough was outstanding in his first start of the year. He went 4 strong innings, yielding 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking none. Bryson was also clutch at the plate going 1 for 2 with 2 walks and 2 RBI’s.
