Academy and owner/trainer Barry Lovelace, a 5-Time Personal Trainer of the year in the Lehigh Valley, is recognized worldwide by athletes, coaches and parents. Nearly 200,000 athletes all over the world are using Barry Lovelace's training techniques including an Olympian, USA National Team Athletes, Professional Athletes, college athletes (D1, D2 and D3), many All-State/All-District/All-Conference athletes and adding more each year, All-Americans as well as State Champion teams. With the use of weights, kettlebells, bands, body weight and out of the box core and explosive training style we are able to create very powerful and explosive athletes who notice incredible changes in their game after just a few sessions. The training also aids in injury prevention. 15-year old volleyball player, Tessa Lezama, is back in the house showing how she gets it done.

The Reverse Lunge with a Kinetic Bar, holding Zercher style, with Hanging Kettlebells is an incredible exercise that fires up the quads, glutes, hamstrings, core, posterior chain and on and on. This isn't one of those 'circus' exercises for show. It's one of the many exercises we perform here with that has a Purposeful Meaning.

Of course, we perform tons of strength and power exercises, but we also challenge the athletes proprioceptively and force them to work in controlled movements designed to go hand in hand with the strength and power training.

Tessa is structurally capable of handling this exercise, which, please keep in mind, isn't heavy. We don't want it heavy, BUT IT FEELS HEAVY, in-turn feeling like you're performing a heavy barbell Bulgarian squat (for example) to the max. Start off perfecting the Reverse Lunge if you safely and correctly handle the movement. Then grad dumbbells or kettlebells and hold them in your hands. Use a different weight in each hand to get that proprioceptive feeling. Next, Front Rack kettlebells or hold a dumbbell Goblet style and eventually work your way up to a barbell (light one if you have it) and when you're ready, start hanging 'stuff'. Plates or light kettlebells work great.

All-State volleyball player, Anna Burke, is performing a Resisted Mini-Mini Burst with a Superband today. This may not look like much, but with no slack in the band and constant rotational movement with the core, this will fire up your core.

Special Note: This is for ALL athletes.

The main focus is the CORE. The entire movement is from the center with the band just setting in the hands. You want to squeeze your core and lead with your core for the entire rep, which is only 15-20 seconds. The movement is from the inside of one shoulder to the inside of the other, hence 'Mini-Mini'.

Training the core will give you more power, increase swing speed or bat/golf club etc speed. Power starts in the center of the body, so you most definitely have to train it.

Twins Trinity and Kenzie, 13-year old lacrosse and ice hockey players, are performing a Short Stance Split Squat with Kettlebells.

An amazing way to work on single-leg stregth, balance and muscle building.

The above takes place due to the 'dead stop' starting phase as from the dead stop your quads are forced to fire up and work without momentum (continuous reps). The controlled eccentric phase (lowering) combined with the dead stop is the 'money' for cranking up those quads.
