Marlin out of Depot Bay, Oregon. What a catch for that far north.
UPDATE: The striped marlin caught off Depoe Bay yesterday is officially the talk of the town. š³š£
The incredible fish was hooked while fishing aboard the Tacklebuster/Surfrider Sportfishing with Captain Tyler of Dockside Charters Sportfishing and Whale Watching yesterday while on one of their tuna charters.
According to longtime local fishermen and captains, this may be the first striped marlin ever caught off Depoe Bay.
The marlin measured an astonishing 7 feet, 3 inches to the tip of its bill.
I went down a serious Google rabbit hole trying to find Oregon Coast records to compare it to, but there simply donāt appear to be any striped marlin records from the Oregon Coast that match up with this catch. That alone says a lot about just how unusual this is.
An absolutely incredible experience for everyone involvedāand a fish story that might just become part of Depoe Bay fishing history. š£š„
7 feet, 3 inches of pure craziness off the Oregon Coast.
