Okay, maybe not exactly 9 to 5—but our AFC players have definitely been putting in the work early in the season.

So in honor of the late great Dolly—and Labor Day—we’re officially recommending you make the best of the long Labor Day weekend.

To our players: thank you for bringing the effort and competing every time you step on the field.

To our AFC parents: thank you for supporting your kids and their high aspirations, they wouldn’t be here without your support.

To our AFC siblings: thank you for getting dragged around all over Northern California to support your brothers and sisters. We can’t wait for your turn!

A unique pull for one of the people helping set the standard at AFC. Coach Matt Haniver gets the Gold Card treatment—recognizing the leadership, energy, and work that happens beyond the touchline.

Coach Matt Haniver brings a wealth of experience to AFC as a UEFA A licensed coach, with a coaching background that includes time with Juventus Academy and Mount Pleasant Academy in Jamaica. Locally, Matt has coached with AFC partner Castro Valley Soccer Club and now plays an important role within AFC’s ECNL and ECNL-RL coaching staff.

A leader on the sideline, a devoted Liverpool FC supporter, and a talented golfer when he trades the pitch for the links, Coach Matt brings experience, personality, and a competitive edge to everything he does.

A huge asset to the AFC family—and more than worthy of a rare Gold Card.

Lauren Wilhite // 6 // RB

Girls Pre-ECNL RL

AFC rookie Lauren Wilhite plays the #2 position under coach Stuart Harte. She currently plays for Piedmont Soccer Club and their star-studded U12 girls purple squad and coach Matt Spencer-Harty.

As part of the AFC’s Pre-ECNL program, the best U12 players from Castro Valley Soccer Club, Clippers Football Club, and Piedmont Soccer Club come together to get a head start on the season to come.

This isn’t truly Lauren’s first year with Association FC after staring as part of the girls Pre-ECNL team for the 2025-2026 season. However with the age group change she has the opportunity to repeat the season with the team.

The future is very bright for this young rookie star!

MATCHDAY RESULTS // BOYS ECNL + ECNL-RL

A strong weekend of work from both AFC boys groups.
Our Boys ECNL squads went to battle against River Islands Surf, while the Boys ECNL-RL teams matched up with Mustang Soccer Club.

Plenty of quality across the age groups, competitive performances, and another positive step forward as the season gets rolling.

Keep building. Keep competing. Keep pushing the standard.
