Current Optional Event Entrties
Queen of The Hill - 4 entries - $186 prize fund
King of the Hill - 22 entries - $1,023 prize fund
Trios - 31 team entries - $4,324 prize fund
Random Doubles - 263 entries - $5,260 prize fund
Come on ladies, only four entries!!! This is a fun and competitive event. You are only competing against other ladies and it is fairly handicapped. One of the most exciting final's event we have ever had was the first year when we started this event and in the championship match, Summer Chen defeated Anurae Lethridge with a scratch score of 267-245. That was quite an exciting match. We need ladies to sign up and get their entries in. Don't make me beg!
Men's King of the Hill at 22 entries in ok, but we need more bowlers to make a better prize fund. As it stands now, first place would probably be around $450. We definitely need more scratch optional entries. The scratch option fee of $60 is all returned in prize money. The scratch portion is the three games of qualifying score.
King/Queen of the Hill is three games of qualifying on three pairs of lanes. The top five handicapped scores then move to the casher's round and will bowl the step ladder finals based on qualifying scores.
Remind your friends who might be coming to Reno that non-league bowlers are eligible to bowl in either Trios or King/Queen of the Hill events and thus will help increase those prize funds. Non-league bowlers must have a verifiable league average.
Tomorrow and Tuesday are the final nights to enter the Random Doubles portion of the sweepers. We are currently at 263 (131.5 teams) entries or $5,260 of prize fund. Let's set our goal at 300 total entries creating a total prize fund of $6,000. First place this year will be increased from $1,000 to the winning team to $1,500 ($750 per bowler) for this year. We will probably pay between 15-20 spots in the Random Doubles.
We will be picking partners starting next week. You can enter as many times as you like and you can cash any number of times. You will not bowl twice with the same partner.
Extra banquet meals for guests coming to join us at the banquet must be paid within the next two weeks. We have to give a firm count to the caterer prior to going to Reno. The banquet venue this year will be back at the National Bowling Stadium. Sweepers should finish by noon Monday morning and the committee will then begin the work of combining scores and gathering master envelopes to be prepared for the dinner buffet at 6:00pm.
I remind everyone that this will be the last opportunity in three years to be able to bowl at the National Bowling Stadium. Nationals will be held there in 2026 and 2027, leaving us only available to be able to bowl there again in 2028. This is a great opportunity and a note that when we resume our sweepers back at Grand Sierra, their entire bowl has been converted over to string pins.
See you on the lanes.
