The Castro Valley Trojans (JV) put together a dominant all-around performance Friday, shutting out American 13-0 behind a combined four-pitcher effort.

Calder Shen, Desmond Hamstra, Jack Meier, and Nikolai Kaneshiro teamed up on the mound to keep American off the scoreboard. Shen set the tone with two no-hit innings, striking out three. Hamstra, Meier, and Kaneshiro followed in relief to close it out, with Meier recording the final strikeout of #15 to seal the win.

The Trojans wasted no time getting on the board, erupting for seven runs in the first inning. Brody Evans, Micah May-Fanene, Shen, and Kaneshiro each drove in runs, while Alijah Ogbonna and Daniel Vieira added RBI groundouts to cap the big frame.

Castro Valley extended the lead in the third when Antonio Perez singled to left and Kaneshiro added another RBI on a groundout.

The Trojans racked up 14 hits on the day. Kaneshiro led the way with three RBIs, while Shen, Perez, Ian Hackbarth, and Kai Rasmussen each collected two hits. Rasmussen also swiped two bags as Castro Valley totaled six stolen bases in an aggressive effort on the basepaths.

Castro Valley JV heads to Freedom on Saturday looking to keep the momentum rolling.
