Explore CO Sharing our love for exploring Colorado as a family through outdoor rec rentals, stories, and videos. But I didn’t. I couldn’t. I had to clean.

One Sunday afternoon, my five-year-old daughter asked to make some posters. I told her that was perfectly fine because I’d be busy cleaning all afternoon. The next thing I know, she is hanging up posters around the house that read “STOP CLEANING MOM.” At the time, I was annoyed by it and honestly thought to myself, “Whelp, those posters are just one more thing I’m going to have to clean up.”

Late

r that evening when I finally had a chance to reflect I realized what she really wanted was for me to play with her. The house is always a disaster at the end of a weekend - footprints get tracked through the house, dishes pile up because the kids are always eating something, jerseys need washing after weekend games, and the list goes on. And of course, like many women, I will be working Monday morning with no time to clean. Now why am I telling you this? Well it’s because these posters are the reason I wanted to start this outdoor recreation guide and rental business. Outdoor rec is a great way to play with your kids as many of the activities can be done by very young kids and adults alike. Take stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) for example, my five-year-old can float on her own board or we can ride together. And as an added bonus, when you are outside together, no one is making a mess in the house that needs to be cleaned AND you can’t see the mess that’s there! You may be wondering why you should follow our FB page..
1. We are going to start by renting SUPs but plan to add to our inventory over the next few months, so keep checking back to see what else you can rent.
2. We also want to provide these rentals in a cost efficient manner so many families can get out and explore Colorado too.
3. I am going to share our experiences exploring Colorado, which will include reviews of recreation areas to where to eat near the trail to where to avoid snakes. Get out there and enjoy what Colorado has to offer! It’s going to be a beautiful day.

Lots of lightning in the area last night so we found ourselves in search of an indoor activity. Monster Mini Golf in Centennial for the win! Here are 5 things to know before you go.
1. It’s black light mini golf, so if it’s super bright out, it does take a second for your eyes to adjust. But they will!
2. This course is all about the angles. If you love a good bank shot, this course is for you!
3. It’s located next to the popular Los Dos, so it stays busy but we’ve never had to to wait to start a round.
4. It’s reasonably priced at $11 per golfer.
5. They do have some video games in the lobby that the kids really like, but unlike the mini golf, the game play can really add up $$.
Bonus: the art on the walls is a combination of classic monsters mixed with Denver history and lore. Make sure to check it out!

Let me know if you’ve been and what you think about Monster Mini Golf

Keyhole Reservoir near Devils Tower Wyoming is a great place for paddleboarding. Here are 5 quick tips to know before you go.

1. There is a beach area just before the boat slips that makes the in/out with your paddle board super easy.
2. Make sure to lather on a lot of sunscreen as there is not a lot of shade to be found.
3. There are bathrooms in the parking lot near the beach!
4. It’s about a 1 minute walk from the parking lot to the waters edge.
5. There is a bar and grill but we found the wait to be very long and the food to be medium. I’d suggest packing a lunch or couple snacks in a cooler.

If you are looking for a fun adult actitivty, I suggest considering a smash or rage room. We went to Smash It Breakroom in Denver to celebrate a friend and blow off some steam. Here are 5 things you need to know before you go:

1. Make sure you wear long sleeves and pants and closed toed shoes. The glass and pieces will go flying and you want to be covered.

2. Only 2 people are allowed in the room at a time, which it just fine because it is a little intense. But if you are with a group, but sure to have a game plan. We rotated every 4-5 minutes and it worked super well.

3. You can smash, throw, break anything you order plus anything that’s already in the room.

4. Make sure to try all the weapons and throw things against the wall. Some of us preferred the crow bar while others liked the baseball bat.

5. You will be surprised at how hard it is to smash some of the items. Glasses were a crowd favorite because of the noise but the crock pot was interesting too.

Be sure to share your pics if you go!!

I went exploring with the girls down to the King Tut experience at the Lighthouse downtown Denver. We really enjoyed it although we all agreed we preferred the Van Gogh exhibit. Here are three things you need to know.

1. If you can, spring for the VIP tickets. They include a cushion for sitting, a poster that is now hanging in my daughters room, and an hour arrival window. The hour arrival window is key as traffic into downtown can be unpredictable.
2. Download the app before you get there and make sure you know when and how to use it through the exhibit. We did not find out about the app until it was too late.
3. Grab a drink, but they can’t be taken into the sand room, so you’ll need to sip it down quickly.

Also - this is just a light show. There are no artifacts. I did see a funny tik tok where the lady was looking for King Tut 😂

The Royal Gorge train ride is an epic must-do in Canon City, CO. Here are 5 tips for a fun, family filled adventure!
1. We walked all of the cars and decided that next time we would get the coach seats. They looked the most comfortable.
2. There is only 1 kitchen and 1 bar, so do not wait to order your drinks as it does take some time for them to arrive.
3. We all thought the food was fine but not amazing. We would skip it altogether next time and just have a drink. If you do want to eat on the train, the quesadillas were a crowd favorite with our group.
4. Get up and go outside!! The topless train cars are exhilarating with beautiful scenery.
5. I’d recommend the 6:30 pm train in the late summer to catch sunset views.

We are planning on going back for the Santa train this winter!

Durango Hot Springs is beautiful! There are 20+ different pools and each one is labeled with their temperature (up to 111 degrees!!) and a name although it was so hot out, we spent most of our time in the 93 degree resort style pool. And to top it off, the grounds are covered with beautiful flowers and a large green space to relax and enjoy. They have a full bar and a food truck if you’re hungry. We found the drinks and food delicious but a little pricey. In fact, cost was one downside of the visit - it is $40 per each adult and $15 for each kid, which meant it was $110 for our family to visit.

Insider tip:
On the positive side, they didn’t enforce the 2.5 hour visit limit that is on their website, so we were able to stay much longer.

Be sure to stop in next time you’re in Durango!
