Son of Thunder Forge and Knives Veteran owned and operated. Blades forged and made for practical applications and presentation. *I make things at my own pace. This is a relaxing hobby for me.

I have a job and life outside of this. If I start accepting a bunch of orders then this won't be fun. I make things, then post them for sale. The "Sons of Thunder" refers to the disciples James and John in the Bible. James and John were given this nickname because they were rough men that would never back down from a confrontation despite the odds. We believe that if you choose to face adversity, you should have a tool forged by someone with that same spirit. Hence the name.

Three years ago I competed on History Channel’s Forged in Fire. I had to recreate a Saxon Sword known as the Sutton Hoo sword, for where it was found. I originally intended to make the sword out of 300 layered pattern welded steel. However, while forging the blade my billet burned up and became unusable. I had to go to my back up plan and forge the blade out of a piece of mono steel. While the sword didn’t turn out as elaborate as I had planned, it still worked out in my favor. The show kept the sword I made for the finale. I wanted to recreate the sword from the show. I could had done an elaborate pattern welded blade, like the original. However I ended up making it exactly the same way as a reminder that your plans don’t always work out. It’s up to you to carry on and do your best.
