Being a proud mama is an understatement.

I took my eldest with me on his first trip aboard the Ocean Odyssey hoping he’d catch his first gamefish, and he completely exceeded my expectations.

In the truest form of fishing, it wasn’t a wide-open bite. You had to work for it, stay patient, and put in the time at the rail. This kid did exactly that. He stayed at the rail the entire trip without a single complaint and fished hard from start to finish.

I had the incredible privilege of hooking and handing him his first gamefish, which he successfully landed. Then I cast for him, but once the bait hit the water, it was all him. He hooked and landed his very own yellowtail.

I couldn’t be more proud of the young man he’s becoming. As much as it would have been exciting if the bite had been wide open, I’m actually glad it wasn’t. He learned that fishing isn’t always easy, that success comes from patience and persistence, and when that wide-open bite finally happens, he’ll appreciate it that much more.

Moments like these are the ones I’ll never forget. Core memory unlocked. 🔓💙🎣

These are some of my heroes. ❤️

Every event that I volunteer at leaves me inspired.

These men and women face challenges most people can’t imagine, yet they show up with huge smiles, great attitudes, and incredible determination. 💪

I came out to help people go fishing, but as always, I received far more than I gave. Some of my heroes are right here. I am grateful and beyond blessed for every conversation, every smile, and every opportunity to share the rail together. 🎣❤️

I got to be the unofficial pinhead for the day while volunteering with aboard the .

This was my third year volunteering for this event, and there is just something special about it. Watching these amazing individuals experience sport boat fishing, feeling that first bite, and bringing a fish to the rail never gets old.

The sculpin were definitely hungry, and we were stacking up limit-style counts. But the fish are only part of the story. The smiles, the excitement, the encouragement from everyone on board, and seeing people enjoy a day on the water that many might not otherwise get to experience is what makes this event so meaningful.

Days like this are a great reminder that it’s not always about the fish. It’s not about me. It’s about the people you get to share the rail with. It’s about giving back, creating opportunities, and helping others experience something they may not otherwise get the chance to do.

Grateful to be a small part of it and already looking forward to the next event. 🎣❤️

🎆 🔥 The most spectacular day ever! We got in and got out before the weather came up. He caught one, and of course I never back down on a challenge to catch my own too. We nailed it!😄 Such a successful, fun day! Fantastic fishing, fantastic boat, fantastic crew!
