Seikōkan Dojo Toyama-ryu Winter Park

Seikōkan Dojo Toyama-ryu Winter Park Classes are open to adults of all levels. My name is Roger Browning. I am a 5th Dan in Toyama-ryu and a 2nd Dan in Tamiya-ryu Iaido.

We are a small, traditional Japanese sword school dedicated to the study of Iaido (the art of drawing and cutting with the katana) and tameshigiri (test cutting). Active and current member of All Japan Toyama-ryu Iaido Renmei. My instructor is Yosh*toki Hataya Sensei (Machida, Tokyo Japan)

Today, after Toyama-ryu keiko, I had my first 書道 (shodou) lesson. Rather than post my work, I shot a short video of my teacher 8th dan, Hiroko Nagatsuka, writing Seishinkan (誠信館) using a very old style of kanji characters. Like any artist, she criticizes herself and is not happy with the final product. To me it is amazing.

Today's keiko focused on building strength for stances. We did 4 exercises to build strength while executing Iaigoshi. We also practiced Toyama-ryu Sanbonme.
