Ten Sleep Bolting Update: Updates, Bolting Ban News, and Virtual Public House!
As some of you may remember, there was quite a dust up surrounding disreputable bolting practices within Tensleep Canyon. Recently, there have been a few big developments that any resource-minded climber should really be paying attention to.
In the last two years the USFS has sourced information regarding our land use as climbers and come forth with a Climbing Management Plan for the area that is in need of YOUR INPUT. The outlined plan covers everything from the establishment of trails, protection of cliff dwelling habitats, and (you guessed it) development of climbing routes within a limited area of the Bighorn National Forest that includes Tensleep Canyon.
FIRST: There is a virtual open house on THURSDAY February, 18th 6:00pm MST. To join you only need to follow this link at that time to be a part and ask any questions you have for the Forest Service: https://bit.ly/36CFZZt
SECOND: There is a public comment period for the proposed management plan. Comments must be received by MARCH 8th. We’ll post more info about public comments shortly after the virtual open house and then we can all have our say.
