The Warrior Golf banquet was this evening and the following awards were given out:
JV Most Improved: Jack Mumford.
— Jack showed up the first day of practice and was struggling to make contact with the ball. By the end of the season, he was able to clear the pond on #6 and had made a birdie on #3 in practice. He worked really hard to improve and has continued to practice even after the season.
Varsity Most Improved: Ryan Hosfield.
— Ryan in his first varsity match of the year shot a 54. By the end of the season, he qualified for the State finals. He practiced every day and his passion for the game and his desire to improve really shone through by the end of the season.
Round of the Year: Carson Hall (74) and Kora Shackelford (52).
— Both kids brought their A-games on these days and surprised even themselves. Kora couldn’t believe she’d played so well at the end of her round, I had to tell her what her score was! Carson won the Westville Invitational with his 74. I can’t remember the last time a Warrior golfer won a tournament.
MVP: Kate Hall.
— This was Kate’s 3rd year playing golf and she’s showed steady improvement each year. Her average was the lowest of the girls and we’ll miss having her around next season.
MVP: Carson Hall, Tyler Volk, and Kian Garver.
— All three boys ended the season within one shot of each other on their season average. All 3 have worked really hard on improving. Each high school team has their “horses,” the ones they send out expecting great rounds, and these 3 are ours. Without them, we undoubtedly wouldn’t have had the team success we had.
Warrior Pride Award: Jaxon Mayhall.
— Jaxon showed up each and every day to practice with an infectious enthusiam for what we had planned. He always wanted to participate in practice and in matches. You could always tell it meant a lot to him to be a part of the team.
LIC All Academic: Kate Hall and Kian Garver.
— Kate has a perfect 4.0 GPA and I know she’ll do big things in college.
We’ll see you all next year and we’re already excited for what’s in store.
