It is with profound sadness that the Phoenix Fire Department mourns the passing of Captain Cort Asbury, a 35-year veteran of the Phoenix Fire Department.

Captain Asbury dedicated more than three decades to serving our department and our community with professionalism, commitment and an unwavering dedication to those around him. His loss is deeply felt by the family, especially his crew, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Captain Asbury. Thank you for 35 years of dedicated service. You will be deeply missed.

Congratulations to Lily Porter on her promotion to Blue Belt in Kenpo Karate today! I’m so proud of you! The Blue Belt in our Kenpo system is roughly the halfway belt on their journey to Black Belt (white, yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, 3rd° brn, 2nd° brn, 1st° brn, black)! Lily started training just before her 3rd birthday, and has been training for nearly 6-years to reach this level! She has been in testing and reviews for the last several months preparing for her final test! She has also logged over 20-hours of sparring on this belt alone! In addition, she has also trained and competed in Brazilian Jiujitsu, and is currently a Yellow/white Belt with 2-strips that art as well! Great job Lily! As a father, and a coach, I am so very proud of you! You’re doing amazing! Keep up the great work! 👧🥋🛡️⚔️
