Up reflecting tonight on my husband Cozell and his many accomplishments after this life changing shining moment winning this National Championship in 1983. I feel so much joy each time I see my 6ft 11inches 230 pounds of muscles pull himself up and stand alone on the rim of that basketball goal (balanced in size 18 shoes) with great confidence and absolutely no fear, after his best friend (and college roommate), Lorenzo swiftly flushed a dunk that silenced the world!!!

Lorenzo Charles and Cozell McQueen were starters. They remained starters and evolved as stars of Pack until they completed their four years and were drafted to continue basketball after their college years for professional careers. These two were notoriously known as LoCoMotion … also called Lorilla and Corilla. They were besties. They were inseparable. They were tight! I can only imagine the unspeakable joy as my hubby Co, and our wedding’s best man, Lo rejoicing that night with all their teammates and coaches. They exuded with Pack Pride even greater than the days our two sons moved in the College Inn as brothers and roommates decades later choosing to matriculate at NCSU as well. Lorenzo who stood as our son’s Godfather on the yard (campus) to ensure their safety and encourage their greatness. We certainly rejoiced.

Let’s remember. That night, Co pulled himself up like an invincible gladiator to stand above the sounds of victory for the Cardiac Pack and the pain of defeat for Houston. Yes, Cozell stood on the rim of greatness and immense success above pandemonium. That was Co! A born leader that defied gravity!

Did you know Cozell McQueen’s name, image, and likeness continues to be shared to persuade millions to watch March Madness each night. May Cozell’s legacy thrive. and light as beacon—-a reminder of hope, truth, grace, and power. Speak truth to power— Cozy exclaimed!

Co’s life was full of victory and sweet miracles. Hallelujah. May Co and Lo … Rest In Peace together
