Exercise is positive resistance to tighten up lose ends on the body.
It takes stretching longer than 5-10 seconds to balance out what sometimes is years or decades of tightness in specific areas. If we neglect muscles or demand too much of them, then both roads end up with inflammation, arthritis, chronic pain, & lose of range of motion.
Stress & tension do not evenly lay on the body as well.
As you can see in the second picture compared to the first; I am building back my range on the anterior side of my right shoulder which is the shoulder I had surgery on over a decade ago. Some days I can hook in & some I can’t.
Everything encountered is a mental experience; not every experience is enjoyable, but from each challenging experience such as Yoga or exercise in general; exercises your mind building mental toughness, grants insights into the thought program you’re running; your triggers, comforts that don’t serve you, lack of accountability, lack of positive reinforcement, & gives you instant feedback on how your body is functioning day to day.

There are so many ways to exercise. Why I love me some kettlebell is due to its versatility of inducing both aerobic & anaerobic exercise; saving time, saving money if it’s about buying equipment, or on a budget & can’t afford a reoccurring gym membership, demanding a collaboration of muscles to work together, transitions from each exercise keeping the mind dialed in as well as strengthening our connective tissues, much more functional front loading weight than back loading; such as barbell back squats. Obviously they work but maybe we shouldn’t stack weight on our brain stem, & maybe we just front load it with a kettlebell & demand the core to do its job + aim for more range of motion sitting deeper into your base instead.
With all the tools at my fingertips I find myself always magnetized to the kettlebell, Yoga, the TRX, & the Swiss ball(aerobics ball).
Obviously this post is about highlighting the why in working with a kettlebell, but the other outlets listed are great as well & really go hand in hand with the minimalist approach to exercising with equipment.
