Today was one of those moments that reminds me why I love what I do.

A young man walked into Heartbeat Boxing in Carthage, Missouri, and introduced himself. Twenty years ago, I trained him when he was just 9 years old at LA Boxing in Fresno, California. Back then, he was a kid learning discipline, confidence, and how to throw a proper punch. Today, he’s a grown man preparing for the next chapter of his life—joining the United States Army.

Life has a funny way of coming full circle.

He’s got a goal to lose 50 pounds in the next 90 days, and I’m honored that after all these years he sought me out to help him get there. To know that something we built together two decades ago left an impact strong enough for him to find me halfway across the country is truly humbling.

This is what Heartbeat Boxing has always been about. It’s never just been boxing. It’s about changing lives, building character, creating lifelong relationships, and helping people become the best version of themselves.

Welcome back, my friend. Let’s get to work and earn that Army uniform.
