Kyoshinkan Karate

Kyoshinkan Karate Traditional Karate Instruction We are KYOSHINKAN, a traditional style dojo now located in Cartersville, Georgia under the direction of Sensei Lenny Jordan.

Sensei Jordan founded KYOSHINKAN in Virginia in 1982. KYOSHINKAN moved to Georgia in 2001. Sensei Jordan began his training under Hanshi James Herndon, he also trained with Soke Shogo Kuniba and Shihan Tsutomu Watanabe. At KYOSHINKAN, we strive to teach with traditional values and methods. We are not a sport influenced karate school, even though we do participate in tournaments. We are a dojo base

d on traditional teaching. At KYOSHINKAN we teach the Shorin Ryu karate of Hanshi Herndon and Shihan Watanabe with many values and applications learned from Soke Shogo Kuniba. To eliminate confusion of style, we refer to this blending as KYOSHINKAN Karate. Sensei Jordan began and still teaches at KYOSHINKAN. He also has students with schools located in Virginia and West Virginia.

Jeff Agan is a member of Kyoshinkan and many of you have worked out with him. Wednesday his sensei passed away.
Hanshi TR Smith "Smitty" was a friend who trained with Hanshi Herndon in the Azores while they both served with the US Air Force.
Several times he came to Virginia to train at Hanshi Herndon's dojo and I had the pleasure to meet and train with him. And recently Hanshi Herndon and I went to his home for a visit and lunch.
Please keep the Smith family, Jeff Again and Hanshi Herndon in thoughts and prayers during this sad time. He will be missed.

Jim Sermania thank you for this post.

Jim Sermania thank you for this post.

PSA to Members and Students of Dojos – I urge you to reach out to your Dojo owner and pledge your support to them instead of canceling or pausing your memberships. You would be surprised how many dojo owners operate 1-2 months away from being bankrupt and still have to pay thousands in rent and expenses. Further, most insurance policies will not be covering business interruption caused by the virus. Dojo owners are rarely wealthy and chose this “business” because of their passion and love for martial arts and of helping others. If you want to have a dojo to go back to in the weeks or months to come, I strongly encourage you not to cancel your membership and leave your dojo to carry the weight alone. Chances are, the dojo owner is also struggling between doing what is safe for the community and keeping their dojo. Don’t leave them to be pressured into creating a public risk because they have no other choice but to shut down permanently.

Heads-up!! Almost every account is being cloned. Your picture and your name are used to create a new face book account (they don't need your password to do this this). They want your friends to add them to their Facebook account. Your friends will think that it's you and accept your request. From that point on they can write what they want under your name. I have NO plans to open a new account. Please DO NOT accept a 2nd friend request from "me". please forward to all your contacts
