The girls rocking their Father’s Day tattoos during bracket play last week, they went 2-2 for the weekend. They enjoyed this past weekend off and got some practice in. Next up, is the Jackson Xtreme Firecracker Tournament.

Carl Hoppel - Ohio’s first freshman state champion

Carl became Ohio’s first freshman to win a state wrestling title when he defeated Frank Cunningham of Bridgeport in the 120-pound championship in 1959.

Had it not been for a controversial last-second takedown against him in his semifinal loss as a sophomore, he may have been Ohio’s first four-time state wrestling champion.

Hoppel was never pinned in high school and compiled a 99-2 career record.

Part of Saged Wrestling's Mission Statement is wanting to help raise youth wrestlers. A lot of companies focus on advanced levels of wrestling and want established "big names" in high school and college. SAGED wants to start at the beginning to help grow these individuals. We want to be part of the reason youth wrestlers are able to grow and advance their success in this wonderful sport. We want them to be at the top of the podium one day and be able to look back and think part of their success was because of our support.

Why? Because wrestling is one sport that will carry on and help you throughout life. Wrestling produces great men and this starts at a young age. Wrestling is an escape for a lot of children and individuals they never knew they needed. SAGED has had an abundance of support our first season and some of our biggest fans are youth wrestlers and their families that we have just recently met along the way. Our youth, nor any athlete, should ever be hindered from sports because of financial hardships.The support we have received has been overwhelming and we are so blessed and grateful; therefore, it is time to give back.

I am looking to help a youth program for the 2024-2025 wrestling season. If you run a program and are in need or have kids wanting to wrestle, but their family simply cannot afford it, please email your programs information to [email protected]. There will be more details in a response email. If you have a wrestler/program who needs support that is beyond the youth level, please feel free to send your information as well. SAGED supports the sport as a whole; however, I have personally seen a huge need more at the youth level this past season. With that being said, we are here to give back and help the sport in any way that we can.

I see who supports SAGED in every way possible, and while we may not have all of our hometown support, we have plenty of it elsewhere. This is my way to show my gratitude as an owner, a new business, and our dedication and true love to the sport. Saged Wrestling's success would not be possible without our continued supporters. If you loved our apparel for our first season, just wait until you see what's coming! 👊💪
I truly appreciate all of you more than you could ever imagine and am humbled to have had such success with a first year business. I have put blood, sweat, and tears into this, and the opportunities, open doors, and growth in such a short period of time have been mind-blowing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a great first season.
