CVA is happy to announce that Evan Keefer has been named the new Alpine Weekend Program Manager.

Evan joined CVA in 2023 as the Lead U14 Alpine Weekend Program Coach and has more than 25 years of coaching experience. Prior to joining the CVA community, he coached at Waterville Valley Academy as the Middle School Head Alpine Coach. Evan is a certified Alpine official and is currently completing his level 200 certification from U.S. Ski & Snowboard. He also serves as the Head Alpine Coach at Falmouth High School, where he most recently coached the men’s and women’s teams to victory as the Maine Class A State Champions in 2024.

Our CVA Alpine FIS Men are back from their training trip in Colorado, and what an adventure it was!

Balancing intense training sessions at Loveland in the mornings with exciting activities in the afternoons, they made the most of every moment.

Athletes spent their mornings preparing for the new season with time-on snow. Using freeski and GS training, they focused on technique, breaking old habits and creating new ones.

From fishing in the serene afternoons to adrenaline-pumping activities like Go Karting and Axe Throwing on their days off, they truly embraced the spirit of adventure.

And let's not forget the evenings filled with camaraderie, s'mores, and epic Spike Ball showdowns.

Huge kudos to our athletes for their hard work and dedication, and a special shoutout to our coaches for creating an unforgettable experience!

On Friday, CVA Alpine Weekend Program Manager, Jeni Conover, along with Full Strive athletes Molly Holman and Isla Dakers had a record breaking day at Sugarloaf.

With 43 runs, 76,109 vertical feet, and 114.47 miles, the crew set and broke the record for most runs skied in one day from open to close.

Now that takes dedication and stamina! Huge congrats to these 3. We are so proud of you. 👏

Summer Camp Alert: Norway Alpine Summer Camp 2024

This unique experience offers 9 days of the best snow for summer ski training at the Juvass glacier, in Norway, located 6 hours north of Oslo, a home training site for the Norwegian National Team and many other Scandinavian teams and ski clubs.

Who: Emerging U12 & U14 athletes with prior racing experience*
What: The camp will focus on fundamental skills, Slalom, and Giant Slalom technical and tactical elements, with daily video review and individualized evaluations.
When: June 23 - July 4, 2024
Where: Juvass, Norway

Carrabassett Valley Academy has openings within our full-time alpine coaching staff for 2024-2025. Based on the growth and momentum of our alpine program, we have positions within our U14 through FIS staff.

The ideal candidate’s qualities include enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, the desire for personal growth as a coach, and the ability to connect with athletes.

Compensation is competitive with housing possible. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass and other CVA employee benefits. Applicants must be able to pass and secure a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check, CPR/First Aid certification, Safesport, etc.

This is a great opportunity for a coach who wishes to develop professionally and is looking for mentoring to become the best coach you can be! Please share the word.

Please join me in congratulating Rocco Lazzaro ’26 and Lucia Littlefield ’26 whose performances at the Ronnie Berlack Grand Prix / U16 Eastern Championships at Burke Mountain have qualified them for U16 Nationals.

Both athletes had top-10 SL finishes with Rocco in 8th and Lucia in 5th. Those placements, combined with their GS results, qualified both for the U16 Nationals event in Vail!

The top U16 athletes from across the Nation will compete March 31st - April 4th in SL, GS, SG, and Team Parallel events as well as SkillsQuest tournaments.

Congrats, Rocco and Lucia. We wish you all the best at Nationals. Ski hard and have fun!
