🚴‍♀️ This morning our Outdoor Center Ambassador went out for a 3.9-mile loop to check the trails. Warming Hut --> Seven Bridges --> Snowbrook --> Moose Pond, and back to the lodge. This could easily be a new favorite loop!

🍃The winds are wicked strong today folks; ride in control, keep your head on a pivot, and be prepared to stop for large downed branches and debris. Some trails higher up are still holding a little water from last night's rain, causing some rocks to still be a little slick, but trails are riding really nicely! 😎

🌤 Who else is thinking of a few warm-up laps at the Outdoor Center before hitting the bike park? 🚲

🍂 14 days until the Autumn Equinox, and the leaves are starting to show off 😎

🍁 Pumpkin spice and everything nice! Leaf peeping, Ride the Region, a barn quilt class, Sugarloaf homecoming, and so much time left to mountain bike before the first snowfall. 🚲

Follow the link below for Maine foliage reports, past and present. Calling all photographers: there is a photo entry page too. Tag us in your Outdoor Center adventures so we can see the trails from your point of view

⛅️Sesame Street said it best! "Sweepin' the clouds away. On my way to where the air is sweet." I am struggling to think of what could be better than the trails after the rain clears up and the sun is able to peek through the canopy again! 😎

👏 The trails and Outdoor Center have been lucky enough to have so many different volunteers help with all sorts of projects this summer. Trail work, deck work, race prep, and more! To say thank you is hardly enough to express how much we appreciate every minute of time volunteered!

Leave No Trace Principle #4: Leave What You Find 🌿

ℹ️ What does “Leave What You Find” mean? The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics definition is simple: examine natural and cultural objects without altering, damaging, or removing them. It also means leaving them for others to discover and enjoy

Take a photo, sketch what you see, write a poem, or simply sit and appreciate it—keep the memory, not the object 🎨

☀️ Painted Trillium and Lady Slippers are perfect examples. These beautiful Northern Maine flowers are incredibly sensitive and can take 5+ years to grow and reproduce. Picking one for a few days of display can end a years-long growth process.

Both historically relied on the flower to reproduce. Trillium seeds are dispersed by ants and some beetles, while Lady Slippers—beautiful native orchids—can also spread through underground rhizomes 💮

🥾 Next time you find one, look, admire, photograph, and leave it for the next person to discover.

📸 Drop your favorite Trillium or Lady Slipper photos in the comments!
