Back to school isn't just about books, backpacks and school supplies. It's about building habits that help kids feel confident and balanced every day.

Our youth Aikido classes offer the ultimate after-school reset. Kids get off their screens, step onto the mats, and learn self-discipline, respect, and coordination through engaging, movement-based training. Plus, they join a supportive community of friends who cheer each other on at every rank!

In our youth program, the games we play aren't just fun. By hiding balance, spatial awareness, and quick reflexes, and on the fly decision making inside fun challenges, our kids develop genuine martial skills naturally.

When you’re practicing Kumitachi (paired sword drills), there’s zero room for distraction. You can’t think about tomorrow’s to-do list or yesterday’s stress when you're reading a partner's timing and intent in real-time.

In our empty-hand Aikido practice, we are constantly practicing "flow" and "balance." Tameshigiri (Test Cutting) provides immediate, physical feedback. The blade doesn't lie: if your posture, timing, or edge alignment is even slightly off, the cut won't pass. It's a great annual check in of our skill development over the past year.

The mats are rolled and the stage is being set for our Tameshigiri event coming up this Sunday. Tameshigiri is the traditional Japanese art of test cutting tatami using a sword: testing a practitioner's precision, posture, and technique.
Stay tuned for the weekend highlights, it’s going to be an incredible day of focus and traditional training.

When conflict finds you, the instinct is often to tense up and fight force with force. In our general practice, we train our minds and bodies to do the exact opposite: to relax, blend, redirect, and flow.

Bokken dori (sword disarms) from this week's training. Facing down a bokken can be intimidating, but breaking timing with an atemi (strike) helps create space enough to control the situation calmly.

A glimpse into this morning's dawn class working on Sankyo variations.

Sankyo requires immense precision, it’s not about applying brute force, but about listening to your partner's center and guiding their movement.
