Ages Elementary - Middle School Mat Rats is a youth wrestling program for children ages 4-13.

Matrats was founded in 1996 and practices at La Costa Canyon High School, 1 Maverick way, Carlsbad CA 92009. Since 1996 this program has been a strong foundation for top athletes in the San Diego section. Our coaching staff is made up of highly acclaimed veteran wrestlers and parent volunteers that are committed to building future athletes. It is our goal to teach each participant the following sk

Basic wrestling skills & fundamentals
Teamwork
Sportsmanship
Open Session: for wrestlers of all skill levels to introduce athletes to the sport of wrestling and focus is on:
Warm Up
Tumbling & Body Awareness
Skills & Technique
Drilling & Live Wrestling
Games
Advanced Session is geared for wrestlers with at least one season of experience who want to compete in matches and tournaments. The focus of advanced is:
Match Preparation
Advance Skills & Technique
Drilling
Live Match
