Our season officially ends today and we thank all who joined us on skis at Great Brook Farm State Park. Sustained cold weather made it an especially enjoyable winter, both for the prolonged packed powder conditions and for the deeply frozen ground which allowed adequate amounts of parking for the first several weeks. Mud eventually closed the outer parking lot but the groomed ski trails stayed open for 49 days. It was a real winter!

Reliable parking remains a serious concern for the ski concession as Great Brook's unusually short ski season requires high visitation for the business to be viable. The ski community should applaud the efforts of Rep. Simon Cataldo ([email protected]) and the Friends of Great Brook Skiing (email to join: [email protected]) in working with DCR to enable adequate improvements to the outer parking lot. If successful, they will have done much to protect the future of skiing at Great Brook. Please express your support, and we hope to see you next year.

Monday, 3/9: ***CHECK OR CASH ONLY*** (no credit cards!)
With the great melt continuing, the grooming for today was focused on the field trails. Woods trails have weathered the warm temperatures better but are getting messy with twigs and other forest debris. With the heat level rising, the end is near...

Sunday, 3/8 morning update: Hoping to adjust expectations... Although the tracks and skate lanes of all trails were groomed last night, 12 hours of melting and some rainfall have taken the polish off their appearance. Today's conditions, and the snow pack in general, remain good though and it will certainly be an enjoyable day to be skiing.

It will be spring skiing conditions today with all trails freshly groomed and plenty of snow. This will probably be the last day of good skiing before next week's heat wave hits, so get it while you can!

All trails open and the snow remains deep! Conditions are surprisingly good for both classic and skate with new tracks set Friday night and skate lanes groomed in the morning before the 9am opening. Closing at 5pm.
Open 9-5 Sunday as well. Come enjoy the groomed trails while we have them!

Friday, 3/6: ***CHECK OR CASH ONLY*** (no credit cards!)
Looking forward to a few inches of new snow to make the groomed trails come alive again with excellent ski conditions! Grooming in the morning for both classic and skate should be complete for 9:00 opening. Closing at 5:00.
We expect to have good skiing right through the weekend and will be open 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday, 3/5: ***CHECK OR CASH ONLY*** (no credit cards!)
Ski conditions are very good after yesterday's snow/rain event and almost all trails (not Shoreline) are groomed for today. Snow depth is excellent and we expect it to survive some melty days ahead.
Open 9-5, no night skiing due to the possibility of showers in the evening.

Wednesday, 3/4: ***CHECK OR CASH ONLY*** (no credit cards!)
A little new snow, a little rain, and some trail grooming will give a new feel to the skiing and we expect conditions for both classic and skate to be very good. Two trails closed (Shoreline, Woodchuck Pass) but otherwise the snow cover is holding well.

Still great cover and the trails are in good shape, but the snow is now hard and fast. The tracks have been reset in the fields, and the skate lanes on all trails will be granulated for a 9:00 opening.
Night skiing is canceled due to the weather so we will close at 5:00.
