It’s time for another round of RE Athlete posts, beginning with our newest team member and instructor Jim Harris.
It is with great honor and pleasure that we welcome Jim to the Instructor Team at Ripple Effect Training. And selfishly I am thrilled that a dear friend is working with us once again so we can connect more often.
I have known Jim since 2015 and consider it an honor to call him a friend. His candor, positive energy, desire to learn and thrive are seemingly endless and He continually inspires me to be the best person I can be.
When I first met Jim he was coming to work with me or shall I say work together as a team on his recovery from a spinal cord injury that had originally left him paralyzed from the sternum down.
Fast forward six years and hundreds of hours of gym work, physical therapy, research, willingness to try and try hard Jim has regained the ability to ride a mtn bike, skin and ski, walk with no external assistance, pack raft, and live a life full of mobility and adventure once again.
If you haven’t already met him while he was shadowing classes and learning more about the art of instruction at RE, You’ll be seeing Jim soon covering classes and sharing his shining spirit. He is additionally a talented photographer and artist, so when not here or out with his friends in the mtns or on the river he can be found at his studio at SAW.
You can connect with Jim on Instagram at or see his art gorgeousstorm.com
See link to a more detailed bio on Jim in the RE Profile.

It’s Ripple Effect Athlete shout out time once again!
Meredith and Janice have been training with us for years now. They are most definitely BFF's, paling around together for over 30 years. They are truly the heart and soul of this little valley.
They are mothers, wives, grandmothers, best friends, mentors, business owners, authors, a photographer and a teacher, the list goes on. We all LOVE training and working with these two. Not a day goes by that they don’t share their joy and passion for living a full and happy life. We are honored to share our time with them every week and look forward to them coming in ready to work but also to laugh, play and tease each other a lot. They are love and light!

From Meredith and Janice! ~
Ripple Effect! Love it! Not only do we love our trainers, past and present... Lindsay, Betsy, Caitlin, Sabre, Sarah... but we embrace our tri- weekly workouts ( bear- crawl excepted), laugh a whole lot -at and with each other- and even compete for “extra credit”. Here’s the best part: we are SO strong 💪.

It’s 2019 and the Ripple Effect is closing in on its five year anniversary in the RFV, it my intention and honor to take the time to begin to share more and more of the stories of our athletes. Such an incredible group of individuals. They are all the reason the RE thrives. This Sara, she has been consistently training, and I mean consistently, at the Ripple Effect for four years, we have seen and supported her through so many adventures and events. I (we) look forward to seeing her smiling face and dedicated work ethic every week. Outside of all these achievements she is a special education teacher in our local public school system which in itself is a work of love and dedication, many of the students here are ESL, outside of school hours she dedicates herself to Spanish language studies and is planning an immersion this summer abroad so she can truly be bi-lingual to support her students. I admire her work and contribution to our community!

From Sara:

"I love training at RE because it’s a positive and supportive environment and I get stronger both physically and emotionally! What’s not to love?
I have been working out with Ripple Effect for over 4 years now!
Leadville 100- got the belt buckle! (10:55)
Marathons- I thought I was only going to run one and be done, and now I am going to run my 6th one this fall-- haha!
Boulder Ironman 2018- 13 hours and 50 minutes to complete 140.6 miles.
Then all of the other silly things I have done- like run a self supported 50K from Aspen to Carbondale or riding the White Rim in one day clockwise and then next year counterclock wise.
I am running another 50K in Fruita in April 2019"

We’re here for you Sara! 100% and every step of the way. Congratulations on all you have achieved in life.

On March 17th I'll be attempting to complete a 24 hour effort on skis to raise funds for Aspen Strong, a non-profit that promotes access to mental health in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Want to join me in making a difference? Give a little bit to Aspen Strong, any donation will help make an impact by promoting better access to mental health treatment in the Roaring Fork Valley. Check the link in the bio.
Addiction, depression, and disordered eating have simply gotten the best of me at times; leaving me helpless, broken and suicidal. If it weren’t for me stumbling into the world of endurance sports I am honestly not sure I would have come out the other side of my afflictions alive.
I hope that my effort can play some small part in eroding the stigma around mental illness. The same characteristics that make me prone to mental health issues also allow me to excel in other areas of my life. Acknowledging and addressing our defects does not makes us weak, rather, it is in fighting these demons that we truly become strong. .
