S*K 2026 3A Team to Watch
After an impressive 11-1 season in 2025, Santa Fe Trail enters the new campaign with momentum despite replacing a large senior class. The Chargers return 11 starters, including five on offense and six on defense, while several players who gained valuable experience during last year's 12-game season are expected to take on larger roles in 2026.
Head coach Greg Slade enters his third season at Santa Fe Trail after leading the Chargers to one of their best seasons in recent years. Slade is joined by assistant coaches Nic Stillwell, Garrett Staten, Will Herren, Trent Robb, Jake Kober and Brady Keith as the program looks to build on last season's success.
He said, “We are very optimistic about this season. Especially coming off the 11-1 season, we have several key players to replace this upcoming season. As we move forward to the first day of practice, we’ve been working very hard to be prepared for the start of the season.”
The Chargers return a solid group of experienced contributors led by senior receivers Trevon Brooks and Ethan Ellis, along with senior offensive lineman Dalan Babbitt. Junior quarterback Rigley Sleichter takes over the offense after gaining valuable varsity experience and will also contribute in the secondary. Defensively, senior Logan Graham returns after starting on the defensive line, while Jack Gragg, Reese Guenther and junior Dalan Brownlee give Santa Fe Trail an experienced linebacking and defensive back group. Additional contributors Trevin Cox, Tristian Goltz, Tanner Bolt and Cale Anshutz provide depth and versatility as the Chargers look to make another postseason run.
