Out of 32 fierce teams, our boys are ready to clash once more with our neighborly baseball Bros, the Carterville Crush. Whether we win or lose, let’s cheer loud and proud for a Southern Illinois team to take the Ship! Best of luck, boys—let’s make Championship Sunday unforgettable! Go Battle!

Going into our final pool play game, the sounds of cheering shook both sides of the field making every player feel like a star. The Sergeants battled, but ultimately fell short and took the 2nd seed for Pool A. Never quit, never surrender.
Next up: Semi Final Round at 4:30 pm.

Yesterday’s games concluded with a 2-0 record. Today’s game against Bonaire will determine the number one seed in Gold Bracket Pool A. Let’s go to work.

Special shout out to Sue, Sew-A-Lot in Carbondale, IL, for making sure the Sergeants showed up in style for the Pinto World Series with our freshly sewn-on ‘PONY Baseball’ patches on our uniforms. 30 jerseys done in a few days! If you’re ever in need of a seamstress, Sue is your girl.

#30 Michael “Big Mike” Mayse stepped into the box this evening with no fear and was ready to swing for the fences! Not many have the courage to display their abilities, but Big Mike is not one of them. Way to represent Carbondale, IL, and embody the Sergeants’ mentality of never backing down from a challenge, no matter the results. Keep battling, and we’re proud of you, #30!

#99 Manny “Manuel” Mitchell, put the Sergeants on his back today! With a stellar 3rd place finish in the fastest runner competition. Out of 32 talented kids from around the world, Manny glided around the bases in an astonishing 12.75 seconds, touching all bases with precision and speed.

His dedication, discipline, and relentless hard work have paid off, proving that with effort and perseverance, incredible results are possible. Manny’s achievement is a shining example for all of us to follow.

Let’s all take a page from Manny’s book: train hard, stay focused, and put in the work. You’re a perfect example of the Sergeants way. Congratulations, Manny!

Come out to Ray Fosse Park in Marion, IL, Field 1 to watch your very own 8U Carbondale Sergeants begin pool play in the 2024 Pony World Series! They'll be taking on Mattoon, IL, Royalton, IL, and Krclencryk, Bonaire C.N. in a battle for the higher seed in the tournament.

**Game Times:**

- **Mattoon, IL:** 9:00 AM, Friday, July 12
- **Royalton, IL:** 3:00 PM, Friday, July 12
- **Krclencryk, Bonaire C.N.:** 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 13

Bracket play begins Sunday, July 14. Stay posted for the Sergeants' schedule!
