I admit it. I love systems, schedules, and I love to teach other people how to organize their lives! (OK so I’m a Capricorn, through and through.)

I would love to teach you my system for creating more time in your life for art next year.

Week2: Think Week! I’m spending a lot of time thinking this week. Considering how all of the parts of my MFA thesis show will work together. I’m tracking the 16 week journey in my blog, if you want to see more images and hear the whole story of this process of creating a gallery show, from concept to installation. Discovering as I go.

My Word of the Year has really helped guide me this year - and every year for the past 10! One little word. Well, last year, it was two smashed together. Commit + Momentum. We get to make this up, however we want! What was your word of the year this year, and how did it help you?

Week 1: Spark Week! I’m cataloguing the 16 week process of getting ready for my MFA show. Spark Week is about gathering fuel, ideas and inspiration and feeling the energy of diving into the work.🔥🔥🔥

🔥 I will be showing around 50 pieces of art, I have 16 done. This week I welded seven steel hexagons that will be the armature for seven light sculptures called “Tools of Navigation“.

If you would like to read about the whole process and receive my newsletter with my blog posts about this each week, sign up at the link in my bio! The sign-up sheet is at the bottom of that Discover page.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about big projects you have worked on and how to go about it, manage your energy, and your mind during the process!🔥🔥🔥

Week Zero: Last week I found out my MFA Thesis Show will be again on March 1, 2026. And run until March 7, with a reception and Artist’s Talk on Friday, March 6, 6-9pm. So perfect! That means I have exactly 16 weeks to create this experience. So last week was week zero, full of emptiness and yin energy, fish bones found while walking in the woods, light and shadow in Cypress trees, looking at inspiring paintings (titles below) black coffee and graphite, journaling to understand my thoughts, back of the napkin sketching, dreaming about ancient diagrams of belief, and envisioning three rooms filled with color and light. ✨

That’s what I love about Week Zero. It’s that slow time before the work or even the planning begins, where you can dream and envision, gather ideas and resources. I didn’t even know the concept of Week Zero existed until last week (i made it up) - that Zero’s such a sly little non-number!😉 But Week Zero allowed me time to breathe, get my head around the idea of my show, take stock and get ready for the countdown, starting with Week 16!

The thought I practiced last week was: I am open! Just like a zero. That thought brought a lot of new concepts and helped me broaden my perspective, read new things and feel like time is spacious.

⏳So as I begin Week 16, I will be writing about this adventure, and also each week I’ll be working on /finishing a chapter from my book, 16 Journeys. This is the combination of several years of travel and research, visiting the birthplaces of my 16 great-great grandparents, from Salem to Far West, from Denmark to Ghent, Solva, Wales to Brighton Beach. This synchronicity of timing is such a gift. Allowing me to feel connected to my ancestors and to my current work, and this show is a devotion to them - how I got here - and to the creative force that lives in all of us.✨

I’d lovevto hear your thoughts about the concept of Week Zero! 0️⃣☯️🖤☕️

I’m tagging 16 friends, coaches, and mentors - your energy is helping me through this!✨✨✨

The whisper of “who am I to do this?” is a call to transformation.

✨Artists impostor. It’s what we do.

✨Illusion, masks, characters, imagined worlds.

✨Shifting between worlds to help people think differently

Impostor Syndrome has a lot to teach us. 🎃🎃🎃

I had to solve this problem of “feeling like an impostor” for myself when I started making art at age 50, so I created a deep dive class, and and the free class in my bio gives you a taste of this new approach to Impostor Syndrome. It works.

✨I hope you join me for this vital training in my new on-demand class for artists & creatives.
