Cape Girardeau Junior River Bandits

As much as we hate to say this. Cape Girardeau Junior River Bandits has ended an era. This week we had our last practice before we have to disband as a league.

Thank you so much to all of our supporters, parents, fans, families, coaches and of course none other than our skaters. These skaters worked hard at every practice. They’ve grown so much, gained confidence, and gained lifetime friendships with each other. We hate to say goodbye, but we had one last party and this is our final all in.

You’re really missing out on the chaos that is with having a junior league. But we agree, this video shows exactly what it is, to be a coach to kids. This is the chaos we lived in, and we loved every second of it. When it was hard, when they showed love, when they learned about each other, when they scream at random things or random times, when they are too quiet or too loud, every second will be missed.

So goodbye everyone, we are signing off. We will miss you and we love you!

Next up we have #20, Scourge! Scourge’s favorite things about roller derby are “Making new friends, skating, and scrimmages!” Scourge has never been afraid to try new things and meet new people. She was more ready than most to start learning contact drills. No matter what, she keeps fighting to learn each thing we teach her. We are happy to have you with us Scourge!

Tonight is the BIG NIGHT! We have a couple more skaters we would like to introduce you to! #99 UnGRACEful Grace! Grace loves roller derby because she loves learning new skills and making new friends. She has done just that since joining us last year. Although she can be very quiet, she has used it to her advantage when sneaking up to steal those points when she jams. Grace has opened up to the other skaters on the team and really shown how bright her personality is! We are so excited to have you with us Grace!

Next up we have #904, Wreck it Ruby. Ruby is the other half to Thunder Chickens PBJ. Just like Thunder Chicken, Ruby watched her mom and attended many adult practices. Although Ruby is one of our younger skaters and she is a little more timid than her other half, she never let that stop her! Her favorite thing about playing roller derby is “Learning how to play the game and learning plow stops.” Thank you for talking to us Ruby!

Next up we have #409, Thunder Chicken. Thunder Chicken watched her momma skate in the adult league and could not wait to get her first pair of skates. She was at the majority of adult practices, making friends with the other skaters. Although, off track, she is a sweet social light, on track she is ready to jump in to contact and become a fierce player. She said “I love all the new things I've learned to do on skates!” We are ready to teach you even more. Thank you Thunder Chicken!

First up is #24, Amanita. This spunky little skater is not afraid of anything when her skates are on her feet! Learning new skills has always come naturally to Amanita. When asked what she likes about Roller Derby she said, “I get to see my friends, meet new friends, and skate fast! This sport is fun!” Thank you Amanita!
