Training for speed is simple (not always easy, but simple) because it really comes down to these 2 things:

1️⃣ A strong foundation. In order to gain explosive speed on the field, you have to perfect the proper mechanics of speed first. You do that with training the body with how to move correctly. Implementing the right, basic and simple movements properly are the game-changing piece to an athletes training plan that will create explosiveness on the field, confidence in an athletes demeanor and more playing time with MVP status. 🎉

2️⃣ Proper Strength Training Plan. Once you have the foundation in place, you want to strengthen the muscles in their proper form for power. My athletes incorporate weightlifting into their training daily - not just weightlifting like the personal trainers do - but an athlete-guided plan that gives speed and power on the field a name. These drills are key to gaining speed quickly. 🔥

Speed training is not achieved by pushing the body to do more as fast as it can. Sure, it might help with conditioning, but if the foundational movements must be properly executed before the conditioning. Otherwise, all you’re doing is emphasizing bad habits that will eventually lead to injuries and more bench than play time.

You don’t have to implement crazy training into your already booked out schedule. The smallest tweaks can be enough to make massive difference on the field.

🚨 This is what changed the game for him :

As an almost collegiate athlete, he’s had his fair share of training. He’s worked on conditioning and ran play after play. Perfected his skill sets and focused on his mindset.

And after just one session with me, I already knew he had more in the tank. 😎

I watch for things different than most conditioning and speed coaches. I read bodies. I read the language, the form, the off-steps. I read it all. 👏🏻 And then I trust my knowledge to help my athletes execute.

After one month of training, my guy already increased his top end speed and has another mph to go before he heads off to his first season of football at the college level.

Not only has his strength increased, his confidence has soared and he is so ready to lace up the cleats and GO in just a few short weeks.

When you know what you’re training for, the right muscles can be tweaked to perform at their best top level.

Conditioning took a bit of a back burner while we corrected movements and worked solely on the foundation first. Once the mechanics are in tact, we go HAM with training.

And after this athlete went back home after a summer of training with me, the plan was continued and I received this message a few months later. I can’t help but be excited. 🎉

Not only are my athletes proud of their results but I’m proud of them for committing to the process. For dedicating their trust in what I bring to the table and knowing they’ll get where they want to go with a little mechanics tweaking and relationship building.

There are three parts to my training program that help create a faster + stronger athlete every single time:

1️⃣ DYNAMIC WARM UP

2️⃣ EDUCATION FOCUSED SPEED + AGILITY TRAINING

3️⃣ STRENGTH TRAINING

All three individually will help train your athlete to be stronger, faster + more confident on the field. But in order to create the true powerhouse athlete, the one most athletes crave to be, they have to incorporate all three into their daily routine.

It’s like the story of three-legged stool. When one part of the training is off or not executed properly, the stool becomes unbalanced and misaligned. The same goes for my athlete training.

At DAP, I focus so much on making each of the legs perfect that there isn’t any room for the missing link to fall flat. I meet athletes where they are, train to their gaps and strengthen each leg of the stool for explosive power.

Parents, you can get your workout in while also helping your athlete get faster, stronger and prevent injuries… at the same time!
