I’ve been battling for 2 years to write these words, but I now know that I’m ready to write them.
7 years ago today, I started North Country Derby Productions to help offset the costs of going to 15-20 derbies a year. Help off set the cost for travel, food, entry, and derby parts. All great things eventually come to and end, and NCDP is no different.
So today, exactly 7 years to the day, the sun is officially setting on NCDP. Over the past 5 years, since I broke my leg, i’ve increasingly fell out of love with this sport - to the point where this felt more like an obligation rather than something I enjoyed.
I first say thank you. Thank you to Donnie Dana's Doodles for giving me a great boost when I started this, 7 years ago. A big thanks to all of the drivers, fans, pit crews, and friends who helped spread the word on NCDP, who helped by writing NCDP on their cars, and who supported me by buying DVDs. Thank you to Adam Stickle, Brian Criss, and Glenn Gillespe for getting me into the Clinton County Derby, which lead to getting into Essex County. To Team Lic Me for really helping spread the word.
It is too hard to name everybody that I need to thank, as the Clinton/Essex county drivers were almost like a cult following with their strong support.
I write these things with a smile on my face as I look towards my next chapter 🍕 and adventure. I will cherish all of the memories that NCDP has afforded me over the years, and all of the friendships that will last a life time.
But the sun is finally setting. Thank you all and good luck!
