Metro South Gymnastics Academy We're dedicated to inspiring minds while building muscles with smiles and sweat at MSGA, through gymnastics.

MSGA was founded to offer a positive, safe and fun environment for children of varying abilities to not just grow athletically, but also to develop character and emotional strength. While our students love to learn gymnastics, parkour, tumbling and the like (and we love to teach them in those areas!), we equally value and cherish the opportunity to develop well-rounded kids who will become positiv

e, contributing members of society, doing so through our programs. It excites us to see kids imagine the possibilities (doing a cartwheel, clearing the obstacle, conquer the slack line, etc.), believe they can do it, and achieve their goals, while all the along they're learning how to work with their peers, listen to feedback, follow directions, take the lead, persevere, and so much more. If all we had was a napkin, pen and ten seconds to write down why we exist, here's what we'd write...

If you've spent time around MSGA, chances are you've seen Jacob encouraging athletes, helping them build confidence, and maybe even creating a picture-perfect practice hairstyle!

Jacob has been a valued member of our coaching team since 2017 and brings years of experience, energy, and dedication to every class he teaches. As our Boys Recreational Gymnastics Program Leader, he's passionate about helping athletes develop skills, work hard, and have fun along the way.

Gymnastics is an incredible sport for boys, helping them build strength, coordination, confidence, discipline, and body awareness while having fun and staying active.

This may look a little weird to an outsider… but in boys gymnastics, drills like this are how great athletes are built. 💪

Pommel horse is all about rhythm, timing, body position, and repetition — and drills like this help build all four.

Using the bucket swing allows athletes to focus on proper circle technique without having to fight gravity or support their full body weight yet. It helps them develop hip extension, shoulder position, swing tempo, and muscle memory safely and efficiently.

What looks “simple” is actually laying the foundation for one of the hardest events in boys gymnastics. Every great pommel horse routine starts with thousands of quality drills like this one. 🔥
