Although the Japanese government notified the Allies of its acceptance of the Potsdam Declaration Defining Terms for Japanese Surrender Accord on 15 August, the instrument of surrender documents was not signed until Sept. 2, 1945.

On this day the Empire of Japan formally surrendered to the Allies, or "United Nations," in a ceremony conducted aboard the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Harbor.

Fairwinds and following seas, Shipmates. We have the watch.

The 8 Marines and 1 Sailor who lost their lives in a training exercise on July 30, 2020 have been identified.

Their loss is felt by our entire Navy and Marine Corps family and, they will never be forgotten.
