NEWS ABOUT SEA to SEA 2027.
When the Florida Sea to Sea Adventure Race began more than twenty years ago, our state looked very different. The roads were quieter, the remote stretches truly felt remote, and cyclists crossing the peninsula could ride for miles with little company beyond the wind and wildlife.
Today, millions more vehicles travel those same routes, and the realities of riding through Florida have changed in ways we can no longer ignore. Cyclists and pedestrians—whether participating in a race or simply out for a Sunday ride—now face risks that did not exist a generation ago.
A New Direction for 2027
After months of reflection, discussion, and feedback, Warrior Racing has decided to continue the Sea to Sea Adventure Race in 2027. Thanks to Manny Otero, Karlos Bernart, and Ron Eaglin, we have designed a road-free route across Florida using newly developed rails-to-trails corridors, sidewalks, and long river paddles.
Our goal is to design an event that is as safe as possible while still preserving the spirit, challenge, and beauty that have defined Sea to Sea from the beginning.
As we prepare for the 2027 race, we have committed ourselves to one guiding principle: no biking on roads. Roads will be strictly off-limits during the race. The route will be road-free, and any team found traveling on a road will be immediately disqualified.
Supporting a Safer Future
Warrior Racing also wants to contribute to the bigger picture. Beyond our own event, we have connected with safety-focused foundations and initiatives—organizations doing the ongoing work to protect cyclists and pedestrians—with the goal of supporting them both materially and through the visibility our community can provide.
Our racers will be part of this effort as well. The people who spend the most time on these roads are often the ones best positioned to help make them safer for everyone.
More details will follow as we finalize the route, support stations, and the safety initiatives we will be partnering with. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new ones alike as we carry this tradition forward together.
2027 Race Details
The 2027 race will be held February 24–28, 2027, and registration is open now and will run from Weeki Wachee on Florida’s west coast to New Smyrna Beach on the east coast. Both are wonderful destinations in their own right, so bring the family, make a vacation of it, and enjoy what is typically some of Florida’s finest weather of the year.
The first ten teams and solos to sign-up will receive the now famous Sea to Sea Jacket.
We can’t wait to see everyone back at the starting line!
