More exciting news for Pheasant Run Golf Club! Today, the club is hosting a local Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier for youth golfers ages 7–15. This year marks the 13th season of these qualifying events. The free program, available in all 50 states, aims to create a welcoming environment for young golfers to develop the game’s three fundamental skills.

Local qualifying for this season began May 2 at 353 sites nationwide and will continue throughout the summer. Participants compete in separate girls’ and boys’ divisions across four age categories, with scoring based on performance in driving, chipping, and putting.

Top performers at the local level will advance to subregional and regional qualifiers in July/August and September/October. From these qualifiers, 80 finalists—40 boys and 40 girls—will earn an invitation to the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 4, the eve of the 2027 Masters Tournament. Qualifying events are facilitated by all 41 Sections of the PGA of America across the country.

Exciting News! Pheasant Run Golf Club hosted the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier Tournament on June 16, with 76 players from as far away as Canada competing in the event for three qualifying spots. Presented by the United States Golf Association, the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which is the largest amateur golfing event of its kind, is held annually for players under the age of 18 to determine the best junior golfer in the United States.

Tournament medalist Stefan Baier of Grand Blanc, MI, shot a 4 under par 68. The second position was secured by Tommy Preseton, hailing from Grand Rapids, MI, who shot 3 under par. Christopher Quayle of Grand Blanc, MI, rounded out the third top position by shooting 2 under par. These three qualifying players will go on to compete in the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship, which will be held July 20-25 at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA.

A huge thank you to the staff at Pheasant Run Golf Club and the Canton Municipal Services Department, whose hard work in maintaining the course and building its new paths was instrumental to the success of this event.

Canton is pleased to announce the launch of a new Transportation Safety Action Plan; a comprehensive initiative aimed at eliminating traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries on our local roadways.

To ensure the plan reflects the needs of our community, there will be extensive public engagement starting with an online survey to provide direct feedback on your daily commute and safety concerns. Visit www.cantonmi.gov/1531 to take the survey by February 28, view the project timeline, and stay up to date on future engagement opportunities.

This project is made possible through a Safe Streets for All grant awarded to the Township by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Using these federal funds, Canton is working to identify specific streets and intersections that have the greatest need for safety improvements. The final plan will not only establish clear goals for reducing traffic incidents, but it will also develop design concepts to transform the highest-priority locations into safer spaces for everyone. The goal is to ensure that everyone, whether traveling on foot, on wheels, or in cars, is safe and secure while moving through Canton.

Today’s the day that Christmas in the Village returns to Cherry Hill Village from 3 to 7:30 p.m.! Don’t miss out on this family-friendly event that is so popular that it’s expanded beyond the Village Arts Factory to include additional locations such as the Cherry Hill Village Fountain, Indigo Salon, Spa & Boutique, Maraschinos Pub, and Greenland Market & SAJ Canton.
