Thank you. It’s been an incredible year where we’ve received so much support. Only makes freedom, family, and a fresh start that much sweeter. Have a great one with your friends and family and much ❤️ to you all.

Much appreciation for the invite, bow work, and guidance ! I now have 100% more experience than before and it was an honor to suffer through that slog with you. Much thanks to for the time to continue this pursuit as a hunter. We didn’t get the opportunity that we were looking for, but it wasn’t because we didn’t put in every possible ounce of effort and work. It was fun sneaking around, tracking trails, and literally pushing our bodies to the limits slugging it out in that Lord of the Rings Mordor level of terrain lol. Til the next adventure.

Officially deep down the rabbit hole of doing old people stuff. Picked up a folding ebike to roll with the kids, deal with zombies/gas shortages, and get some cardio in. Haven’t been on a bike since triathlon training a lifetime ago, but it was pretty damn fun. Happy Friday y’all.

I don’t have many talents, but a penchant for discipline, process, and practice has served me thus far. Archery can be an incredibly calming practice, but it can be just as easily frustrating and anxiety inducing. By following a process and letting things do, you can find a path to the target. First day back on the bow and sighting in one pin at a time.

Week two is proving a bit more difficult than week one of being out of the gym. Things have settled down a bit, and now it’s getting real. Who am I? I know what I’ve done, from starting out as a tutor, taekwondo instructor, sport club supervisor, mechanic apprentice, quality control engineering specialist, to coach/entrepreneur. But what I’ve done isn’t who I am, but what I do is always a big part of who I am. Still trying to answer the question of what’s next. I default to at least knowing what I don’t want to do and trying to rebuild structure in my day to forge a path even though I can’t currently see where that path is leading to. I have an idea the destination, but going from A to B is what my job is right now I guess. And when all else fails, it’s time to lift, sweat, and smile.

It's been one week since we closed the gym. I've had some time to process things a bit and would like to share with you my final thoughts and reflections.

Most importantly, my family and I thank you for all the support over all these years. To those that were there to the very end, you will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has shared your experiences and reached out to share your thoughts and support. It makes this bitter pill that much sweeter to swallow.

Many of you reached out to tell me that I did not fail my mission nor failed myself. I really appreciate that and know that it comes from a very caring place. But, the fact is the mission that I set out to accomplish over 11 years ago was to sustainably change lives for the better through the gym, which meant that the gym would be self sufficient at some point without my direct involvement.

That was the target and I missed that target, lockdowns or not. I'm choosing not to discredit this failure because it would discredit all the incredible successes we've had as well. And, I believe that owning the failure is the only way to truly take away the lessons from it. There are many personal lessons that I'll be walking away with from this experience, but here are the 5 lessons that I think are most beneficial for you:

I) Our Tracfit "Proverbs". #1 Always put the needs of others before your own, and you'll find that all your needs are already being met." #2 Leave people, places, and things in a better condition than when you found them. We had these put up at the old location early on ( #2 posted in the restrooms, because why not) because I knew getting a bunch of strangers to row in the same direction would be no easy task. But, if we had underlying values, it would help everyone get pointed in the same direction.

Ok, spirits aside, you're probably more likely waking up in the middle of the night because you need to use the restroom.

This sucks for your sleep cycle as you're missing out from the most beneficial cycles of sleep that effect your hormones and recovery.

You can cut drinking water off earlier in your evening and make sure you use the restroom right before bed, but an alternative is to use glycerol.

Glycerol can help you stay more hydrated and hold water in your body during the night so that you're not only better hydrated, but less likely to need to use the restroom.

According to WebMD "For athletic performance. There is some evidence that taking glycerol by mouth along with water helps to keep the body hydrated for longer. The increase in fluids in the body might help people exercise for a few minutes longer and possibly go a bit faster, especially if it is hot.

You can order it off the AMZ or your local nutrition shop and add a little to your water in the evenings.

to nine years ago this week! Here's the write up from 10 years ago today. Coming from a person who is a zombie without his coffee in the morning, I've been limiting myself to one coffee in the morning so as to not affect the quality and duration of my sleep at night. Be very careful with your stimulants!

"How many of you absolutely “need” coffee to start your day? I believe there is a clear difference from occasionally using coffee or some other form of natural caffeine to give yourself a boost versus being dependent on it (as I used to be, along with Rockstars, and caffiene pills!). The dependency of external stimulants is a red flag for the bigger underlying problem: inadequate nutrition and inadequate rest. You’ve got one life, you owe it to yourself to make the time to balance your nutrition and rest. It’s in your control, just try to open your mind to opportunities that your self imposed limitations may be causing you to overlook."

"Fact: 60 degrees in California is a cold snap"

In the evening class the other day, I thought it was a little chilly and was about to put on my hoodie, but I had to stop myself. I thought, "Is it really chilly? Even so, am I so weak that I need to put on a sweatshirt to make myself more comfortable?" And with that, I kept my hoodie off and went on with the rest of class.

"Dont be a baby." is a saying that's been around our gym for a long time. And for those of you that don't know, it's a PG version of what I tell myself in my head anytime I feel like I'm being weak.

Resting more than I need to during a workout? Don't be a baby.

Snoozing an alarm? Don't be a baby.

Not being on point with my nutrition? Don't be a baby.

Generally avoiding adversity or a challenging situation? DON'T BE A BABY.

I love babies; they're cute, innocent, and generally pretty cool. But, they're weak, can't change their own diapers, and not very productive. But, over time, and over overcoming obstacles and adversity, babies will grow up to be formidable forces.

So, the next time you feel like wanting a little more comfort or want to do something that you know you should be doing, tell yourself to Don't be a Baby and do what you know you should be doing. **Disclaimer: if it's actually freaking cold, put on a dang sweater so you don't catch a cold hehe!

Stay strong, stay healthy, and don't be a baby,
Trac
