🩸 1,000 whole blood transfusions. 1,000 moments when every second mattered.

Cooper University Health Care has reached a major milestone in trauma care, administering its 1,000th whole blood transfusion to a critically injured patient.

As South Jersey’s only Level I Trauma Center, Cooper was among the first in the nation to implement a whole blood program in 2016. Today, lifesaving whole blood is available not only in Cooper’s Trauma Center, but also aboard Cooper Air Medical helicopters and through EMS partners across the region.

For patients experiencing life-threatening blood loss, every minute matters. By bringing whole blood directly to critically injured patients at the scene or during transport, Cooper and its EMS partners are helping give patients the best possible chance of survival.
