🐴 HOTH RANCH SERVICE UPDATE 🐴

We wanted to take a moment to clarify the services currently offered at Hoth Ranch!

Our focus is horseback riding lessons and our training program. Because our schedule is dedicated to our students and horses, we have made the decision to keep our services limited.

🤠 HORSEBACK RIDING LESSONS
• Monday–Friday
• Weekly lessons only
• For students who are committed to attending on a consistent weekly basis
• We currently have some availability throughout the week reach out if you’re interested in lessons!

🏆 MONTHLY HORSE SHOW
We also host one horse show each month that is open for anyone to attend and participate in. These are a great opportunity to get out, have fun, and enjoy the horse community!

🚫 SERVICES WE DO NOT OFFER
At this time, we do not offer:
• Birthday parties
• Trail rides
• One-time horseback rides
• Weddings or wedding services
• Other one-time/private horse experiences

We simply don’t have the availability to take on these services while maintaining the quality and attention we want to provide to our lesson students, training horses, and our own program.

Our ranch is busy and we like it that way! ❤️🐴

Lakota Update ❤️🐴

We received better news than we expected about our sweet Lakota. ❤️

The mass is NOT a tumor, which means it is not cancer. 🙏 That was such a huge relief to hear.

At this point, the mass is believed to be a brachial cyst. Unfortunately, because of where the cyst is located, there are only a few options for treating or removing it, and all of them carry significant risks.

The cyst is surrounded by and connected to major arteries and veins, making surgery extremely complicated and dangerous. So before making any decisions, we have to determine whether the potential benefits of surgery outweigh the risks for Lakota.

We will be taking the next week to discuss our options and decide what is best for her. Our biggest priority is making sure we are doing what is safest and best for Lakota. ❤️

We are still taking Love for Lakota T-shirt orders to help with her veterinary expenses. If you would like one, please let me know! 🐴❤️

The first batch of orders has already been placed, so if you have already paid for your shirt, your shirt is being made! 🙌

Love For Lakota T-shirts:

For those who paid for your shirts, I am submitting the order tomorrow. This gives time for anyone not paid or that still wants one to order with the first batch.

We will order more when we have at least 12 orders for the second batch.

All shirts are $25. I pay the shirt company their price and we keep the rest and all those proceeds will go towards Lakota’s care and expenses occurred while we wait for our next steps with this mass.

We appreciate all of the support! You still have time to place your order before tomorrow to get in on the first batch of shirts.

❤️ Love for Lakota ❤️

Many of you have been following Lakota’s story, and we wanted to share a little more about this very special girl and how much she means to our ranch.

Over 3 years ago, Lakota came to HOTH Ranch from a ranch where she worked pushing cows. She had also been trained on the barrel pattern, and since coming to us, she has become so much more than just a horse she has become one of the heartbeats of our ranch. 🐴❤️

Lakota is one of our best lesson horses. She has patiently carried countless students, helped teach kids confidence and horsemanship, and has been a trusted partner for so many of our riders. She has a way of taking care of her people, and our students absolutely LOVE her.

Recently, we noticed a lump developing on her neck. We immediately started monitoring it with our veterinarian as it continued to grow. Unfortunately, after taking Lakota to Tryon for further evaluation, we received some very difficult news.

The mass appears to be a tumor and is located in an extremely complicated area between major arteries and veins and her trachea, making surgical removal very difficult. A biopsy has been sent off, and we are now waiting for those results so we can determine exactly what we are dealing with and what options we may have moving forward.

The good news right now is that Lakota is comfortable. She is still being her sweet self and, thankfully, does not appear to be in pain. But she has slowed down on eating at this point. So we are keeping her comfortable with meds for now.

But veterinary care like this comes with a very large expense, and we want to do everything we possibly can for this special girl who has given so much to our ranch and our students.

So we have created our T-shirts! 👕🐴❤️

Every shirt purchased will help us toward Lakota’s veterinary and hospital bills and help us continue giving her the care she deserves.

Lakota Update ❤️🐴

Unfortunately, today we received some news that we were really hoping we wouldn’t hear.

The mass on Lakota’s neck appears to be a tumor. It is located between major arteries and veins and very close to her trachea, which makes surgical removal extremely difficult and risky. We have sent off a biopsy and are now waiting for those results before we know exactly what we are dealing with and what our options may be.

The good news is that Lakota is comfortable right now. She is not showing signs of pain and is still being her sweet self. We first noticed the lump about a month ago and immediately had our veterinarian evaluate it. We have been closely monitoring it as it has grown.

For now, our goal is simple: keep Lakota comfortable and happy for as long as we possibly can. ❤️

Lakota is so much more than just a horse. She has touched the lives of so many of our students and ranch staff. She has been one of our best lesson horses and has a very special place in all of our hearts.

We take the health and care of our horses extremely seriously, and we will do everything we reasonably can for this sweet girl. But the reality is that continued veterinary care, diagnostics, medications, and potentially surgery are expenses we were not prepared for.

So today, we are asking for a little help. ❤️

We are putting together shirts to help with her ongoing veterinary care and recovery.

As much as I would like to hop on give good news about Lakota…

At this point it’s not looking good. She is coming home as we wait for biopsy results to come back. From the testing and looks of the mass it is looking like a tumor.

We are headed to Tryon for further examination so we can hopefully get some answers about the mass on her neck and figure out exactly what we are dealing with.

For those who may not know Lakota’s story…

Lakota came to Hoth Ranch over 3 years ago from a ranch where she worked pushing cows. She was then trained on the barrel pattern upon arriving here, and since coming to Hoth Ranch, she has grown into one of our absolute best lesson horses.

She is a very special girl. ❤️ She has touched so many lives here at the ranch, and our students absolutely adore her. She has the sweetest way of becoming a favorite without even trying.

We are going to do everything we can to keep this girl here at Hoth Ranch, surrounded by the people who love her and all the students who have grown alongside her. She deserves every chance to continue being the amazing horse she is.

Today, we could use some extra prayers, positive thoughts, and good energy for our sweet Lakota. 🙏🏻❤️
