Our service manager, resident polo expert, dungeon master, and all around fun guy Olsen is gonna be leaving us to start his own bike shop in LA… and we don’t mean Los Angeles!!! Before coming to CB, Olsen ran his own shop The Roost Cyclery in Highland Park, Los Angeles and he’s decided to restart it on this coast in Lower Allston this fall. We encourage y’all to keep your eyes peeled over the next few months while he’s getting started. Expect expert service and coffee! We’ll miss this guy around here and absolutely wish him the best. Allston, support your new local bike shop!

We’re big fans of helping folks replace car trips with bike trips, obviously. Cargo e-bikes are excellent tools for such a job and there are loads out there nowadays. We helped Andrea pick one out for daycare pick-up and drop-off duties that will get her and her son around super comfortably. We landed on the new Velotric GoMad due to it’s fairly compact size for city dwellers, super stable ride, great giddy-up and range, and because it can take a Thule Yepp seat natively. This obsidian paint is also beautiful in the sun - I mean, just look at that! The built-in stash bag can also fit that long Kryptonite Lock Evolution chain perfectly too cause you know you gotta protect the investment. Thanks so much Andrea - we hope you and your loved one love your new chariot!

We had the pleasure to help Frank re-configure this sweet 𝚂𝚞𝚛𝚕𝚢 𝙱𝚒𝚔𝚎𝚜 Cross Check that we originally built up in March 2020! It was originally built up with a simpler 3-speed IGH for ease of use, but Frank decided it finally needed a drivetrain upgrade to give him more range. So, we went with a bombproof Shimano MTB Deore 12 speed set up. The tricky part was finding a ring for geared drivetrains for those 144bcd cranks - thankfully Spécialités T.A. makes em still! With a 50t ring and 50t ring and 11-50 range on that cassette, Frank has now got loads of range and has a 1:1 bail out gear, which is lower than before. Got to love it! Frank’s also got a bunch of fun details sprinkled in throughout that we are also really digging. Thanks for letting us revisit this sweet bike, Frank! Have a nice ride!

We had the pleasure of making a few upgrades to this ‘93 Bridgestone XO-3! We swapped out the stock bars for some more relaxed chiller bars from Velo Orange as well as threw some new wheels on it, upgraded the shifters to some more modern triggers, and upgraded the braking to way more powerful Shimano Bike v brakes. New bikes are great and have loads of benefits, but sometimes putting some love into the bike you already own and love is the right approach, and we’re happy to help either way! Plus, these old Bridgestones are real gems (in terms of practicality and reliability) and it’s great to keep so many still on the road. Thanks for the opportunity to give this bike some love, Marco!

It’s that time of year again! Tax-Free weekend is this weekend and that means any single item less than $2500 will be tax-free. That means any of our Velotric models, most of our dropbar road and gravel bikes from Marin Bikes, Cannondale Bicycles, Jamis® Bikes, and Fuji Bikes, and all of our commuter bikes will have a little savings this weekend. Same goes for any big ticket items you’ve been thinking about but putting off, like fancy boutique parts, dynamo hubs and lights, fenders, or more! We hope to see you this weekend!

The very best bells are back in stock! has been making these for more than 10 years now and thankfully they have kept the quality and consistency the same, which is amazing for any product. We’ve got both the original (made in US) and compact (made in Taiwan) bells in stock in most color options to fit your bike just right. Come by to give em a ring and see for yourself!

Got an itch for a mean and modern steel gravel bike? The Nicasio 2 has really impressed us in almost every respect and demonstrated it’s a real contender for an all-rounder gravel bike that can competently do it all. It’s a comfortable and fast bike for all-day rides, capable and comfortable even on some loose terrain, and can take bags and racks for all sorts of cargo for camping and bikepacking. It’s built with Marin’s lighter steel tubeset and a carbon fork, an excellent geo (even in the smaller sizes!), 50mm tire clearance, a 10s setup with hydro brakes, and it’s UDH-equipped so it’s future-proofed for any drivetrain you’d want in the future. It’s our sales managers favorite bike in the shop right now, which is a high bar given is pretty picky with his bikes. Stop by and give it a ride while it’s here!
