Yale University Wrestling

Yale University Wrestling Over 110 years of Tradition. The Nation's Oldest Intercollegiate Wrestling Team. We are the Yale Bulldogs. We have a storied past. But the team lived on.

In 1903 the first ever intercollegiate wrestling match was held between the colleges of Yale and Columbia. We are proud to be continuing that history through our re-energized and revitalized Yale Wrestling program. It includes numerous championships (including NCAA D1 championships and gold medals), as well as the election of a Yale wrestler, William Howard Taft as the 27th President of the United

States and 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. However in 1993, owing to administrative restructuring of Yale Athletics, the team lost its status as a Yale varsity sport. After our exit from the NCAA, Yale Wrestling moved to the NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association), where we still compete in highly competitive intercollegiate wrestling along with other colleges nationwide. Yale Wrestling has claimed individual titles and national titles in the NCWA. Our student-run team is a Yale Club Sport and is led by captain Michael Robinson
