If anyone wants to race the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race on Saturday 11th March at 15:30 for 1927 Boat Club, please get in touch via Facebook or email [email protected] by 4pm today (Thursday 16th March). If we have at least 5 people keen by 4pm, we will submit an entry and find subs later. 1927 can help to coordinate boat hiring, but it would be good to have a crew lead who is prepared to organise any training outings.

Additionally, if anyone is keen to race at the Veterans Head of the River Race on Sunday 26th March at 11:00, please email [email protected]. We have a couple more weeks to get crews entered for this, so the deadline for replies will be midnight on the day of WeHoRR, Saturday 11th March.

WEHORR entries close 8pm Thursday 11th Feb, email [email protected] before 4pm if you are interested in racing on Saturday 5th March

Vets Head 2016:

The Vesta Veterans Head of the River Race is due to be held on Sunday 20th March at 2pm
Criteria for entry is that all competitors must be born in 1989 or earlier. Crew divisions will then be determined by the British Rowing Masters age bands (MasA=27+, MasB=36+, etc)
Entries have not yet opened
1927 has not yet competed at Vets Head, but it represents an ideal race for an Alumni club in which we may be able to put out a competitive crew
Please get in touch via [email protected] if you may have interest

Please see the below from the organisers of the Henley Boat Races. This event is being organised by the HBR committee, and will be raced as Oxford vs Cambridge, rather than 1927 Boat Club (which was formed to enable alumni from both universities to race together rather than separately - except at HOCR, where the Alumni division unfortunately prevents us from racing together).

Please reach out to the contacts at the bottom if you are interested in participating.

Dear 1927 Club racers,

With the move of the open-weight Women’s Boat Race to the Tideway, OUWBC and CUWBC are keen to continue their connection with Henley, and are hoping to hold an inaugural Alumnae Race there at the 2016 Henley Boat Races.

All our alumnae, bar the 2015 crews, have triumphed (or not) on the Henley stretch, and for that reason the race will be over the traditional HBR course (yes, stake-boats, with the stream). You will appreciate that there are several factors upon which the Clubs need to agree, such as whether there should be average age limits, etc., but as yet we have not settled upon the exact specification.

As I understand it, most of you have continued to row and race since graduating, and may well be interested in taking part in this race.

If you are even vaguely interested, could you please contact either me or Fay, (depending on your Uni) with the following details:

Name

Oxford or Cambridge

Year of race and which crew e.g. Blondie, Osiris, BB, spare, lightweight (include them all!)

Current Location (to see feasibility of training beforehand!)

Many thanks, and looking forward to working with you in the future.

1927 will soon be putting together crews for the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta on 17th-18th October 2015.

1927 Cambridge and 1927 Oxford both finished in the top half of the W.Alum.8+ division in 2014, ensuring their bow numbers for the 2015 race. All alumnae from the Blue Boats, Reserve Boats, Lightweights and Spares are eligible (must have graduated from undergrad before the race to be eligible for the Alumni division; current post-grad students are potentially eligible).

Details will be sent via email. If you are not already on the distribution list and would like to be added, please email [email protected] with your crew and year. Recent Cambridge University Women's Boat Club, Oxford University Women's Boat Club and Oxford University Women's Lightweight Rowing Club - OUWLRC alumnae would be very welcome, please get in touch.
