Meet the energizer bunny Chela! She is originally from Leon Gto Mexico, but in 2001 Boston became her home. She is an Engineer and a Mom of two beautiful girls.

"Since I was little one of my passions has been dancing. In 2010 for the first time I witnessed an exercise program that was built upon what I love to do… dance! I immediately knew this was something I wanted to do. In 2012, I became a certified Zumba® instructor and have been teaching at various gyms and studios since then.

Zumba® is a great exercise program that works your entire body toning all the muscle groups while giving you a heart pumping aerobic workout. The routines incorporate interval training which alternates fast and slow rhythms including Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Samba, Reggaeton, Belly Dance, and more. You don't need to know how to dance just move your body and follow my lead. It's easy!

Strength training is a key component of overall health and fitness for everyone. It is designed to improve muscular strength and fitness by exercising a specific muscle group against external resistance, including free-weights, bands or your own body weight. Regular strength or resistance training is good for people of all ages and fitness levels to help prevent the natural loss of lean muscle mass that comes with aging, enhancing your ability to move safely and effectively in your life.

Evolve Cambridge offers Muscle Conditioning class 4x a week. The class focuses on strengthening all muscle groups using bodyweight, barbells and/or dumbbells with abs work and stretch.

Mondays at 6PM and Wednesdays at 545PM with Elvie Mahoney
Saturdays at 1015AM with Mallory Williams
Sundays at 1145AM with Suzanne Van Houden and Jennifer Ward

Meet Mallory Williams

Mallory is AFAA certified instructor and teaches cardio/weights, strength conditioning, freestyle abs and bootcamp type classes. She is also Les Mills Body Pump and Body Combat certified. She has taught group fitness classes for eight years, and loves working out and pushing others to achieve their fitness goals. Join her dynamic and challenging Muscle Conditioning class on Saturday mornings at Evolve.

Fun facts:
Favorite TV show: Law & Order SVU. Since I am in law school I love critiquing how many non-realistic events there are within the show, but it is also entertaining.
Favorite movie: Harry Potter. I'm a big nerd and have all the wands!
Favorite place to travel: Mi Amo Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona. It is beautiful and the spa is world renowned!
Bucket list: I have many items on my bucket list, but competing in Miss USA is my biggest goal! This past June I was a semifinalist in Miss Massachusetts USA, and I plan to keep competing until I win. Fitness is a large part of the competition!

Have you done a kickboxing class? Kickboxing strengthens and tones your legs, arms, glutes, back, and core all at once. You're moving through the entire workout, causing you to burn more calories while strengthening your muscles.

Evolve Cambridge offers 2 types of kickboxing classes 3x a week. Both classes are high-energy workout, choreographed with upbeat music and open to all levels. Don't be intimated, try it out, learn some self-defense techniques, have a blast and feel like a champ!

Strong Nation by Zumba with Tanya Moukales every Thursdays at 6PM and Saturdays at 9AM.
Kick It by Eliza with Steph Wong every Tuesdays at 545PM

Tanya Mouzakes, Strong Nation coach and Zumba instructor.

Tanya is originally from Long Island, New York, but she moved to Boston to attend school back in 2005. She works full-time as a Behavior Analyst at a private school for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is currently enrolled at Western New England University earning a PhD. in Behavior Analysis. After many years of classical dance training and collegiate-level ballroom dance competitions, Tanya found Zumba fitness as a great way to continue to dance and stay active. Tanya has been licensed to teach Zumba since 2015 and licensed in Strong Nation since 2017. Strong Nation has become her latest fitness obsession because the program combines challenging, but attainable goals perfectly synced to customized music. Tanya is passionate about fitness and hopes to share that passion and motivation with others in the community.

Meet Steph Wong! Her love for music and fitness began with her background as a dancer for over 20 years. She became a Kick It By Eliza® instructor in 2017 after falling in love with the class and the incredibly welcoming and supportive Kick It community. Outside of Evolve, Steph works in higher education.

Steph hopes to help every person in her class find their own strength, power, and joy in movement. Kick It crew, get ready to move and sweat with Steph in this fun class for all levels!

Meet two of our amazing yoga instructors, Erika Rubin and Karin Lee

Erika has been a yoga instructor at Evolve Cambridge for more than 5 years. She came to yoga at the perfect time, when she needed it. Her teaching style incorporates linking breath to movement, building strength and balance to help calm the mind and body. She completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification and Yoga Assist Training at Prana Power Yoga and received her E-RYT 500 certification from Sacred Seed Yoga School with Jacqui Bonwell. She's certified in Balanced Athlete, Restorative and Yin yoga, and is a Reiki Level 1.

Karin decided to pursue her 200 hour yoga teacher training after practicing yoga for 10 years as a student. She wanted to deepen her understanding of the practice and philosophy as well as to be able to start to offer what she had found to be a life-changing mindfulness, meditative, and movement practice. She completed her training with JP Centre Yoga and found a passion for offering anatomically supportive and philosophy driven flow and restorative classes.

Karin works as a therapist with substance abuse and trauma as her day job. She enjoys hiking, going to the Boston beaches, reading, and exploring new towns while traveling (especially the restaurants!).

Who likes to start your Sunday morning with a dance party with Stephanie? We do!

Stephanie Robinson is a dancer all her life, and she fell in love with Zumba® because it offers an amazing combination of dance, music, and cardio. She started taking Zumba® over 10 years ago and has been a certified Zumba® instructor for the past 5 years.

Stephanie’s passion for fitness extends from her personal to her professional life. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology and researches how to promote physical activity and other healthy behaviors in those living with chronic disease. In her free time, you can find her in the weights section of the gym (shoutout to the 6 am club) or diving into the latest binge-worthy TV show.

Join Stephanie's high energy Zumba® class every Sunday. Her goals are to make the class accessible to everyone and so fun you don’t even realize you just did an hour of cardio workout.

Instructor: Suzanne Van Houden

Suzanne has been a student of yoga for 15 years and a fitness instructor for the past 8 years. She received her RYT300 certification on Maui and teaches all levels Vinyasa and Restorative yoga with an emphasis on breathwork. She has taught classes in Hawaii, California, Florida, Mexico and Cambridge. She is also certified to teach Spin, Barre, and group fitness classes including HIIT, Cardio Weights and Mat Pilates.

Suzanne is originally from California, but true to her nomad spirit she has lived in several different countries. She currently lives in Cambridge, spending free time with her son who is attending Harvard Law School.

Come join Suzanne's Muscle Conditioning and Yoga classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. She is energetic and enthusiastic about motivating others to achieve their fitness goals in a safe, inclusive environment.

Knowing that our members deserve the best, we have hired certified and experienced instructors who are fun, energetic, and knowledgeable to help you achieve your fitness goals. Our class offerings provide a variety of formats, and are designed to properly challenge all fitness levels.

Every week, we will feature one of our wonderful instructors to get to know them more and appreciate their diverse background in and out of the fitness world.

Meet Darren Hairston (Darren James) Zumba instructor extraordinaire!

Darren grew up in the Somerville/Cambridge area and has always had a passion for dance. Growing up multiracial, he has been exposed to various genres of music and naturally was moved by Latin based rhythms and hip hop, which lead him to falling in love with Zumba. Darren has been a Zumba certified instructor since 2015. When not dancing or teaching Zumba, he is helping people as a social worker specialized in supporting caregivers of elderly and disabled and directly with youth and families. Darren has been with Evolve for several years, and teaches a dance party every Wednesday evenings! Come join the amazing energy and feel of the music with Darren and the community!

We just added a special summer class, Body Conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday at 730AM next week, June 29th and July 1st. It's cardio and strength combo workout for all levels.

Stay tuned for more updates on our group class schedules. Please fill out the member survey we emailed to members on Monday. This would help us expand and improve our current group fitness classes based on members' demand. Message us if you did not get the email survey.

**NEW SUMMER CLASS ALERT**

Total Body Conditioning, strength and combo circuits for all levels. 7AM Tuesdays and Thursdays for the following dates: June 22, 24, 29 and July 1.

We are also reintroducing Kick it by Eliza, High Intensity Interval Training with kickboxing, rhythmic components and a meditative cool down. All levels are welcome.
June 24th, Thursday at 6PM. (Sub for Strong HIIT class)
Stay tuned on the day and time for a regular class within the next few weeks.

Remember to register for classes in advance using our app and to get a class ticket at the front desk. This will guarantee your space as we have limited capacity. This is on a trial basis this summer and if we get enough demand, we will continue offering them and introduce as regular classes in the fall. Hope to see you there!
