We’re looking for a unicorn who is kind, patient, and who wants to be part of our community by showing up and being involved in our studio’s growth. Join Spira for this great cannabis-friendly workshop for the LGBTQIA+ community! Spira has been a proponent of plant medicines for decades. Cannabis can be very helpful for trauma symptoms like anxiety and comorbidities such as ADHD. When used with intention and in the right setting, it can help with focus, increase mindfulness and interoception, and allow the user to find deep relaxation and nervous system regulation. This, combined with Crystal Singing Bowls will provide you with blissful rest while the frequencies provide healing benefits. We will begin with very gentle stretching on the mat to relieve any tightness in the body before relaxing into restorative poses and beginning the sound bath.

We will provide 5mg gummies (your choice of THC or CBD) as a gift as no smoking is allowed indoors. However, feel free to v**e or smoke before coming. You can always save the gummy for later.

**Please be mindful of how much you consume. A small amount can be very helpful but too much can cause discomfort. If you v**e or smoke, 2-3 puffs is plenty.

If you asked me 10 years ago whether I’d ever consider opening a yoga studio, I would’ve laughed. I loved my full time job teaching art to middle schoolers. It was hard but I truly loved it. Well, sometimes the universe has other plans for us. And sometimes we have to learn, sometimes the hard way, how to let go when something no longer serves us.

I loved my job, but my job didn’t love me. It was in a toxic environment that kept triggering my complex PTSD and causing my symptoms to increase to the point where I could simply no longer do it. Enter my yoga practice.

I leaned in hard to trauma sensitive yoga and other healing modalities. I studied. I got more certifications. I started healing. And suddenly it all made sense. I received my calling to create a safe space for others like me. A space that didn’t exist when I needed it seven years ago. A space that felt welcoming. A space where I felt seen. And a space where I could heal.

I don’t want people to suffer the way that I did. I want people to know that they have options and that they CAN heal. I want people to know what it feels like to be in a place where your nervous system can respond rather than react. I want people to know what it really feels like to be calm and for that calm to be your normal.

The stress will never end. There will always be stress in the world. But we can build resilience and form community and thrive, even in the face of trauma and uncertainty.

I just watched a reel that stated that Yoga teachers should not promote Yoga as a mental health tool. I couldn’t disagree more. There are numerous studies that show the benefits of yoga on our mental health. Yes, it can be outside of the scope of practice of a person who only teaches Yoga, but for those of us who work with trauma survivors and have degrees and certifications in those areas, I believe we would be doing a disservice to people by not sharing that with people who need it. So here it is: numerous studies show that yoga and other mindfulness practices can be very helpful for people who struggle with depression, anxiety, and trauma. There, I said it. Come at me. 😝
