Aibudo Martial Arts System

We had never used Zoom in the past, but this winters continuous cold sessions, has caused us to do several Zoom class periods. Hopefully, this evenings Zoom class will be the last of 2025. The "mentals" within a true martial arts system are important but the "physicals" are what everything in the martial arts training eventually comes down to. Physical conditioning and physical "hands on" contact training cannot be achieved in the distance space of the internet. Mentally becoming "numb" to falling apart when receiving an unexpected contact cannot be achieved in the internet. Hopefully this evening, I can say goodbye to Zoom 2025!

Monday, we'll be finishing up with class 5 of the background, both before and after the retirement, of Shinmen Musashi No Kami Fujiwara No Genshin, or as he is commonly known, Miyamoto Musashi. He was a true warrior, in his time, and never backed down or ran from a "fight". If he was challenged, he "stood up". We don't have many like him today but rather "head in the sand" individuals who have absolutely no backbone at all. The courage to stand up for what is right is rare. The fortitude to face adversary even when the "hair on the back of the neck" is readily evident, but to stand up anyway. Knowing that pain and/or adversarial comments or actions will probably follow but accept that and move forward anyway. Thursdays class will be an introduction to his 5 element strategies of "winning", which is still relevant today, within our military, business and life. In life, just to stand up and face that which rears it's head everyday, no matter the cloud that constantly seems to "fight" against us.

There are many who will "quietly talk" about a wrong but few who will publicly stand-up against it. It is the proverbial safer "head in the sand" syndrome. Participation in a true martial arts system can "extract that head" and bring out a "warrior" that was hidden, even from one's own previous view and restoring or building of self respect. The "coward" is banished from the life.

Master Alan Campbell is being advanced to 7th Dan, Instructor Grade within the Aibudo Martial Arts Systems effective the 1st day of December, 2022 with special privileges noted in a special letter dated the 21st of November, 2022.

Shortly I will be shutting down the "website" of the Aibudo Martial Arts System. Society today is moving away from the dedication of time and effort required within most martial arts systems. We all know why so I won't elaborate. I started the Aibudo Martial Arts System in 1985 and it's been a good run with many, many practitioners. Thanks to all. I am approaching 80 years old and still train weekly with two of the black belts who have worked really hard through the years with me. There is nothing in the world that is as satisfying, at my age, as to still be able to give and accept physical contact without all of the padded protections that many systems require today. My philosophy has always been that I don't know of anyone out in society today, that wears padded protection to go to the grocery store, get gas or whatever as being normal. The feeling of a bare fist, elbow, knee , foot, etc. is much different than feeling those same body parts through a pad.
