It’s important to understand the seed you’re planting and know when the maturity of those plants will be in correlation with your hunting season as well!
One of the biggest mistakes we can make with fall food plots is planting because the calendar says it’s time.
The calendar doesn’t grow seed.
Moisture does.
Before you put seed in the ground, look at the conditions you’re planting INTO — not just the date you’re planting ON.
Is there adequate soil moisture?
Is there rain coming?
Is the seedbed ready?
Are you planting a variety that fits your location and your planting window?
Sometimes waiting a few days for the right conditions is a much better decision than planting today just because you always have.
Fall plots are too important to leave to habit.
Plant with a purpose. Plant for the conditions.
