After five years and five months away from Bangladesh's Test squad, Soumya Sarkar has earned a recall for the upcoming Test series against Australia.

Interestingly, Soumya's Test record in Oceania has been far more impressive than his overall numbers. In six Test innings in the region, all played in New Zealand, he has scored 320 runs at an outstanding average of 53.33.

Nahid Rana has officially been ruled out of Bangladesh's long awaited Test series against Australia after a side strain ended any hopes of his return.

The selectors had initially hoped to include Nahid in the squad and were optimistic he could be available for the second Test. However, those hopes have now been dashed after scans confirmed a Grade 2 side strain.

Nahid suffered the injury during the T20I against Zimbabwe on July 17. The recovery is expected to take around four weeks, followed by another two to four weeks of gradual bowling preparation. In total, his return to competitive cricket could take between six and eight weeks.

After so many years, Bangladesh are finally set to face Australia in a Test series. Unfortunately, the country's fastest pacer and the player who had generated so much excitement among both Bangladeshi and Australian fans will not be part of it.
