That’s a wrap on the B.Hall Softball Winter Speed Clinic! What a fun group of pitchers. We saw speed increases anywhere from 1-5 MPH after 3 workout sessions! These girls gave their all and were great to work with. Can’t wait for the next clinic ❄️💪🥎

Why does B.Hall softball use the catchphrase “One Pitch at a Time”?

When I was on the mound or in the batters box, I remember it being easy to get caught up in so many different thoughts. Where’s my next play, what adjustment do I need to make, what pitch is going to be thrown next, where do I need to hit the next pitch?…. The list could go on. So I would tell myself “One Pitch at a Time”. This means to be totally INVESTED in the pitch that’s happening in that moment. Put your focus on the ball and let your hard practiced mechanics and athleticism do the rest. Put as much spin and effort into this singular pitch. Watch the ball all the way to my bat and simply react to what the pitcher is throwing. To not get caught up focusing on the previous pitch/hit or the future pitch/hit. This was my favorite go-to phrase that helped slow down the thoughts and helped me be a better athlete.

Coaching for six years now, I’ve found that many girls get caught up in their thoughts on the mound and at the plate. It can negatively affect their performances. “One Pitch at a Time” has helped many of my girls focus in and dominate! Mentality is a crucial part of softball. In order to be successful, we must practice our mental approach on the mound and at the plate as much as we practice our mechanics. So the next time you go up to the mound or plate, try the “One Pitch at a Time” approach. 🥎
