Earlier this week, I signed the title and registration and handed over the keys of Oakridge Softball to the proud new owner, David Lusk. Thus, ending my 20 year run with softball and my 43 years of coaching at Oakridge High School.
Never thought Iā€™d surpass the guy who recruited and mentored me (Jack Schugars) but here we are. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
After meeting with Coach Lusk and his staff, thereā€™s no doubt in my mind that Oakridge Softball is in capable hands.

Iā€™ve been reluctant to post anything once I decided to retire because itā€™s never been about Me when I coached. Itā€™s always been about the kids Iā€™ve coached.
Coaching at Oakridge has changed my life in so many ways. The players, parents, staff, Fans, friends and most of all the coaches Iā€™ve been blessed to coach with have impacted my life more than they realize.

The coaches Iā€™ve competed against and probably despised just a little šŸ˜€ and are now cherished friends, I thank you for showing me the way.
43 years encompasses a lot of players and to this day, very few moments give me more satisfaction as when a former player calls me ā€œCoach.ā€

I have new challenges and opportunities in my life now that I plan to attack with the same ā€œPassion and Purposeā€ I once did as a Coach. With my Family by my side I look forward to the future and One thing is for certainā€¦.
Thereā€™s no way that Iā€™m the Man I am now without my Coaching experiences for the Oakridge Eagles! ā¤ļø

Joe Coletta has been a staple in Oakridge Athletics for 43 years. It will be a different place with him deciding to step down from the Oakridge Varsity Softball Team after 16 seasons. He has been a softball, football, baseball and basketball coach at Oakridge. He has been a huge asset for Oakridge Student-Athletes and will be greatly missed in the Athletic Department. We would like to wish him all the best.
