Animals want the same things we do. They want to feel loved, accepted, appreciated, and like they are part of the family.

Spending time with your horse isn’t just about getting on and riding. It’s about building a partnership, a relationship, and a friendship. The strongest horse-and-rider teams are built on trust, patience, understanding, and time spent together both in and out of the saddle.

Horses have their own personalities, their own feelings, and their own ways of communicating. They need guidance and they need rules, but they also need the chance to be themselves.

At the end of the day, what every horse wants most is simple: lots and lots and lots of love.

The more love, care, and respect you give them, the more they give back in return. ❤️🐴

Bandit. ❤️

I’m sitting here in tears of joy watching this little black-and-white pony finally relax and trust again.

Bandit’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. Before coming into our lives, he suffered terrible abuse. He was tied in his stall with chains around his feet and beaten. After being rescued, he became trapped in barbed wire, ended up back in the kill pen, and then was rescued again by someone who cared deeply for him but wasn’t sure how to help him move forward.

When Bandit first arrived, trust was something he simply didn’t have. Every movement, every sound, every person felt like something to fear. He would panic, run away, and constantly be on guard.

But day by day, little by little, he learned that not all humans are the same.

Now you can spray him with fly spray. You can brush him. You can walk right up to him without him panicking or running away. He seeks out attention and actually enjoys being around people.

And today, seeing a little six-year-old riding him and watching him enjoy every second of it brought tears to my eyes.

This is why we do what we do. Sometimes the greatest victories aren’t ribbons or horse show results. Sometimes they’re the quiet moments when a horse finally realizes he’s safe, loved, and doesn’t have to be afraid anymore.

Bandit, I’m so proud of you. You are proof that patience, kindness, and trust can heal even the deepest wounds. 🖤🤍🐴✨

Rarri ❤️

Rarri is one of my top horses at RJN Stables, and truly one of the most amazing, kind, gentle, and sweet teachers I have ever had the privilege of working with.

She has the softest way about her. She reminds me of a mama duck leading her babies, patiently showing them the way and helping them build confidence with every step. Whether it’s a rider taking their first lessons or someone working toward bigger goals, Rarri always seems to know exactly what they need.

I am incredibly grateful to co-own this special mare with my friend, Olivia. Thank you, , for trusting me with your baby and allowing me to be part of her journey. We love her deeply and do our best every day to give her the care, respect, and appreciation she deserves.

Horses like Rarri don’t come around often. She has touched the hearts of so many riders, and we are so lucky to have her as part of the RJN Stables family. ❤️🐴✨

This jump is called the rainbow. Happy pride.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

To me, Pride is about love, acceptance, and allowing people to be who they are in a world that can sometimes feel full of judgment and division.

Why can’t we simply love who we love? Why should that make a difference in how we treat one another?

No matter our backgrounds, beliefs, or differences, we all want the same basic things—to be loved, accepted, respected, and valued. If we’re going to focus on kindness, compassion, and understanding, then those values should apply to everyone.

The world could use a little more love and a lot less hate. Today, and every day, I choose kindness, acceptance, and treating people with respect.

Happy Pride Month to all my friends, family, clients, and community. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Weaving in and out of cones is such a great exercise for both horse and rider. It helps improve balance, timing, coordination, and connection while teaching the rider to really feel the horse’s body underneath them.

For the horse, bending through the cones encourages them to soften through their ribs and relax their back. It helps them loosen up, engage their hind end, and step more underneath themselves instead of traveling stiff and straight. These kinds of exercises build strength, body awareness, and suppleness while also keeping the horse mentally relaxed and focused.

Simple exercises like this are some of the best foundations for creating a stronger, happier, and more connected partnership between horse and rider. 🐴

Mia is truly one of the hardest-working students I have ever had the privilege to teach. Watching her journey at RJN Stables has been something really special.

From starting on lunge line lessons, taking those very first nervous canter steps, riding horses like Linus and Aladdin, to owning her first horse Penny, and now stepping into this next chapter with Ghost — every step of the journey has been earned through hard work, dedication, and heart.

The number of horse shows, the ups, the downs, the good days, the hard days… through it all, she has never given up. No matter what happens, she always comes back the next day with a smile, ready to work harder and keep learning. That’s what makes a true equestrian.

What I admire most about Mia is that she fights for what she wants. She never gives up on the horse, and she sticks through everything even when things get difficult. Rain or shine, she is at the barn — usually the first one there and the last one to leave. That kind of dedication cannot be taught. It comes from passion, love, and grit.

She is going to become an incredible equestrian and horsewoman someday, and I feel really blessed that I get to watch this journey unfold. In so many ways, I see a lot of myself in her — the determination, the work ethic, and the love for the horses.

Very proud of you, Mia. This is only the beginning.

That’s a peaceful view.
The light-colored mane, the ears forward, the shaded trail — it has that calm “escape from everything for a minute” feeling horses give people.

Looks like one of those rides where your brain finally gets quiet for a bit.
