The Kimura is more than just a submission—it's one of the most powerful control systems in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This week we're focusing on attacking the Kimura from guard and using it to create back takes when the submission isn't available. By controlling the shoulder and posture, you can force reactions that open up opportunities to sit up, angle off, and take the back.
A common mistake is chasing the finish too early. The real magic happens when you use the Kimura grip to break posture, control movement, and transition to dominant positions.
Remember: submissions and positions work together. If your opponent defends the Kimura, they may be giving you their back. If they defend the back take, the Kimura often becomes available again.
Come train and learn how to turn one grip into multiple attacks.
